I've seen him a bowl a few times as well.

Only really remember the last occasion which was earlier this season. I was impressed on that occasion - After spending an entire day in the field and with Wellington part way through a decent partnership between Woodcock and Patel, he came on for a new spell around 6pm, about his 25th over, and promptly hit Woodcock (on about 80no) in the grill, he sensed blood and started peppering him and removed him a few balls later, then quickly dismissed the next guy (although getting into the tail by then).

He was swinging it into the RHBs, and he gives the impression of putting a lot of effort into his deliveries.

I would have a concern at Test level about him leaking too many runs and not building enough pressure, but these things can be learnt, could say the same thing about Chris Martin in his first few years at test level.

Haha, Skippy Sinclair is a beauty. He looks up at the pitch, the umpire, the ball, the heavens there etc before he walks off.

I remember him in a State Championship final when Lance Shaw knocked his off pin right out of the ground and he nodded at him - as if he was Bradman and Shaw had bowled a miracle ball that none others could produce.

Lance Shaw, whatever happened to that guy. MoM in that final, plenty of wickets at a good average and according to his Wikipedia page a multi-talented athlete.

Craig C seems to be playing as a batsman for Welly with Papps taking the stumper duties. He's fighting with Pollard for a batsman's spot. Until Jesse sorts his head out anyway.

Wagner goes for plenty but I assume it's because he's attempting to take wickets. This is going on stats alone, mind. I have never seen him play in my life.
Papps did keep both innings against ND didn't he (was some rain and rest time). Wgtn have said scoring runs as opener and keeping twice is too much to demand.

Being UK or SA-based doesn't prevent access to the NZC video trove btw. Recommend using the browser zoom function at 150-200% when in there.

Thanks heaps man, that is awesome. Been watching vids for the last hour now. Wish South Africa did something similar...

Really appreciating the videos Kippax.

Having watched a few, its suprising the amount of discent shown to the umpires. How's dismissal in the second innings was bad and from memory I saw a similar incident from K Noema-Barnett.

Brad Cachopa has been going pretty good up in AKL too

Favourite Neil Wagner moments? Mine, when he went absolute bat **** crazy and called Craig Cumming every name under the sun while Daniel Flynn got after him during his double century last season. Apparently it was his fault Flynn was smacking him around because the field wasn't set correctly, nevermind he was hitting him 30 metres plus over the mid wicket boundary because he insisted on dropping the ball halfway down the pitch every delivery. Worst act of petulance I've ever seen on a cricket field. Very entertaining however.

Can't see that flying with Ross Taylor. Will be hilarious if he does it in tests.

To be fair Arnel's action does look more fluent there - would make sense that he's able to generate a touch more pace. I guess we'll see today

End of the road for Craig Cumming: Craig Cumming to retire from all cricket | Stuff.co.nz.

Have felt for a while that he was unlucky not to play more tests. Reckon he was a better option than the half-dozen openers we tried around five years ago, especially the attempted conversion of Fulton, Marshall etc to openers. Made 70-odd on debut (IIRC)against a very strong Australian bowling attack, but will probably be best remembered for having his face mashed by Dale Steyn on that tour to SA.

I read an article by Joseph Romanos about Stephen Murdoch in the 'The Wellingtonian" ( a free local paper in Wellington).

Apart from his strange delay in getting promoted from club cricket to FC cricket, the other interesting snippet was that Murdoch would like to open the batting.

Has ambitions to play for NZ, sees opening as an opportunity which requires two spots to fill in every team. I think he opens for most teams he plays for e.g. Karori,. Wellington A etc

Yeah, saw that article yesterday. Word I've heard is that for years everyone in Wellington cricket thought he should be playing for Wellington, except the selectors. Has club batting records left, right and centre, and as far as I know has always been an opener, yet didn't get the chance until last year.

Unlucky for Cachopa, but he's hardly set the Shield alight this year with his batting. A chance to see what Ronchi can bring to the table, I guess.

Jeez, Ronchi only playing one day or something. Currently 66 not out off just 60 balls. Must be said though, this CD attack is bloody average. Kyle Jarvis and that's about it.

Southerly due tomorrow afternoon in Wgtn, need a quick game and those Knights to get washed out as expected.

Lol at those depleted Stags, almost as if they were sent to meet Ronchi at the airport.

I feel a little sorry for Nethula, but 19-0-97-0 aren't really the FC figures a "test" bowler wants to see.

But good for Elliott + Woodcock + Ronchi, shows what our FC scene should be about, at least 3-4 experienced players per side to put some pressure on the up-and-coming and test fringe players.
