You can use the match filter a bit like that, also. Lets you select the batsmen you're interested in and only see them facing the two or three best bowlers in that match. Or see all the LBWs that Wagner's got this season in all forms, say -
New Zealand Cricket - Welcome (have to be in, will otherwise redirect)

To deselect or multi-select the options it gives you, I think you have to hold down Ctrl and click them.

By 'links go to the homepage' you are getting into the 'all matches' page I take it. If not, when you're watching internationals, backspace the address bar to nothing and paste this in and hit enter if you need to -

Cheers mate, it works.

How on earth do you get there the normal way?

I have one of the T20I's video scorecards bookmarked, and the all matches page bookmarked next to it to click after I get in.

Athlai

Not Terrible
What will the Saffa's plan be to Brownlie? Bowling short probably shouldn't be it but they've pretty much come out and said thats what they've tried to do to most of the Kiwi bats.

he definitely played some off side shots - but the majority of his shots were leg side. He needs to work on his off side play. For example, No real back foot cover drives amongst this long inning and only a few cover drives of note. No square cuts either.

I mainly saying this because I observed this of him during his ODIs and this footage has reinforced my view.

He is a great prospect but he needs to develop further.

Harry Boam
Andrew de Boorder
Astle v Nethula
Interesting points. Agree it makes sense for Boam to move away from the team that would field 11 all-rounders if it could. I think he's got a bit more bowling potential than say Jimmy Neesham, who is definitely more of a batsman. CD is looking rather weak at present (sorry Flem) so would be a good choice. If he wants to play for NZ Boam will need to pick either batting or bowling to specialise in IMO, otherwise runs the risk of fitting into the 'bits and pieces' category.

Seems strange that Andrew De Boorder didn't get picked for Auckland's second half of Plunket Shiels even if he was in terrible form while the List A was on. Has been one of their only reliable run-scorers last couple of seasons and to be made captain and then dropped is pretty rotten.

Nethula seems the more consistent bowler than Astle, who is just awful at times. Also think Astle picks up more than his fair share of tail-end wickets. Both are going to have to do a hell of a lot to step up to international test standard though Nethula would be my pick right now. Bruce Martin is the best performing spinner in the domestic comp this year but will no doubt miss out again due to Vettori also being a left arm orthodox.

Yeah I didn't particularly like his batting technique either. Rutherford looks a lot better for his age.

Plans for NZ batsmen? Project the ball to the other end of the pitch and see what happens ;)

If you watch that innings - particularly the early part of it - with a close eye on his footwork you'll notice that he has a bit of a shuffling trigger movement and he's fine when he just moves each foot once, but on occasions he moves his front foot twice before the ball is even delivered and when that happens he doesn't move his feet again at all and gets stuck on fuller deliveries. Sometimes he doesn't do that second front foot trigger movement though and he plays it well; I'm sure it's something he's aware of.

The biggest difference obviously is that he doesn't have that wild backlift anymore that made him late on everything bowled at over 135km/hr.
Watched the video and saw what you said about the occasional double front foot movement. Something to work on I guess. I'd be perfectly happy if he puts away the cover drive v South Africa too, considering he doesn't get particularly far forward. If he stays in any length of time Philander will no doubt test him on that fuller length around offstump.

I think he still has just a touch of that weird backlift tbh. Probably relegated to a 'pre shot flourish' rather than full-on weird backlift but there's still something.

Would love Boam up here. I've been watching clips of our newer batsmen making scores and William Young in particular impresses me a lot. Carl Cachopa looks a decent FC allrounder in the making as well, though not as easy on the eye as Young.

Like Young, I'll support Dean Robinson to the end because of where he's from, but unlike Young he doesn't instill me with a lot of confidence yet. Doesn't look very certain against short of a length bowling at all. I've only watched his most recent fifty though.

CD will find replacements for Ingram, Sinclair etc when they're all gone. We found bowlers, and we will find batsmen without importing random Australian first graders.

Ronchi's done till next season? I think I got it wrong about him playing Otago.

Wonder if there's a chance of seeing some more of these U19 guys next week ahead of their Townsville four-nations series, all three remaining PS matches being virtually friendlies.

The New Zealand team is:

William Young (c) – Central Districts
Joe Carter – Northern Districts
Sean Davey – Northern Districts
Michael Davidson - Canterbury
Jacob Duffy - Otago
Cameron Fletcher – Auckland
Ben Horne – Auckland
Nick Kelly – Northern Districts
Connor Neynens – Central Districts
Edward Nuttall – Canterbury
Matthew Quinn – Auckland
Ish Sodhi – Auckland
Theo van Woerkom – Canterbury
Joe Walker – Northern Districts
Henry Walsh – Wellington

Are William Young and Ben Horne related to Bryan Young and Matt Horne (aka our last average yet passable test openers) by any chance?

Don't think so. Matt Horne and Sodhi seem quite close though -
Premier player profiles - Auckland Cricket

40 club wickets for Sodhi this season at 14, Bhupinder Singh 20 wickets over the last two seasons at 20. Aces to dismiss playing Bruce Martin and a leggie I guess? Wonder whether Jeets might like a spin twin/rival for '12/13.

Ben Horne is Phil Horne's son, therefore is Matt's nephew given Phil is Matt's brother.

William and Barry Young are no relation. Lucky for William.

And Ish Sodhi is a good cricketer. A very good cricketer.

Has anyone actually heard a logical reason for doing away with the Under 19 tournament and replacing it with the Under 18's?

I believe the original reasoning was that there was perceived to be too much of a gap between school-age cricket and A's/First Class cricket so they decided to go for Under 18's as well as an Under 23 tournament without an official A competition. I assume the idea was that U18's would cater to just about everyone still at school, then once you left school U23's was the goal. However, pretty much all the provinces used the U23 tourny as A's anyway so they reverted back to an A tournament this season. I didn't think there was much wrong with the Under 17 - Under 19 - A's system of a few years ago tbh.
