You can have him agree a bigger contract than you are willing to give him and trade him immediately. You can't keep the player, contract only becomes valid once the trade is processed.

l.a has been playing really well without kobe, i hope when he comes back he becomes more of a playmaker than a volume shooter...with the kind of players he has around him, if kobe becomes more efficient, the lakers will be extremely tough to beat...it will also help save his body for a longer, healthier career...

Incredible, incredible trade for Cleveland. Especially as they somehow got Telfair as part of the package. The Clippers are ****ing ******** though, they give up Telfair and Thornton and get Drew Gooden in return? Really, what the ****? The Wizards as well, Jamison is excellent and they're trading him for cap relief and a #30 pick? This is as lopsided as the Gasol trade was even though Jamison isn't as good as Pau.

Cleveland now have a scary looking rotation though:

Williams/Telfair/Gibson
Delonte/Parker/
Lebron
Jamison/Hickson
Shaq/Varejao.

Rumour has it that Washington want to buy out Z's contract as well which would be a complete joke if he returns to Cleveland. That team can win many titles, especially when they get Shaq's contract off their books.

Also read this earlier:

Amar’e Stoudemire(notes) and the Phoenix Suns are no longer discussing a contract extension, and the All-Star forward was privately telling friends that he believes he’s playing his last game in a Suns uniform on Wednesday night in Dallas, sources said.

As Yahoo! Sports reported, agent Happy Walters and Suns general manager Steve Kerr exchanged contract offers over the weekend but were far apart in talks, sources said. Those privy to the conversations among Suns ownership, management and Walters say they no longer include scenarios where Stoudemire isn’t traded prior to Thursday’s deadline.

Amare + D-Wade coming up imo.

Del Negro was told to leave Salmons at the hotel for the Knicks game. Really love the guy and hate to see him go but he more than peaked last season.

Mixed feelings about Tyrus. Liked watching him play but was a bit of a **** and a massive underachiever. Really like the deals. We got **** all from the trade players wise but cleared up massive cap room to really go for a big name like Bosh. Again, didn't like seeing Salmons leave but this will be so good for us in the off season.

Milwaukee making a charge at the right time in the season. With Dallas they are the form team of the NBA. Pretty much doing it off the back of Bogut.
