he is still their no: 2 option...all three of them are accountable for the miserable showing today but end of the day, they lost to a better, deeper team so the result is not all that surprising...doc is a pretty average coach especially under pressure, it took three superstars and rondo, a terrific point guard in his prime with some solid veteran depth for him to win his ring with the celtics...
Yeah, sure he is accountable on some level but individually considering his rock bottom playoff perception as a choker, this post season has actually bolstered his legacy a decent bit from the low it was by adding some great playoff performances to his resume against a better team as the best player in 3 games with Embid either out injured or playing poorly.

In comparison, This post season has been yet another failure after taking the lead for Doc Rivers and a post season of utter disappointment for Embid who is at his peak, won MVP and yet didn't have a single completely dominant playoff game, unlike Harden who had several. Embid's game was clamped by the Celtics in a highly visible way.

Considering the expectations for Harden were not very high after the last playoffs, this season as a whole has been good for Harden's legacy as an older player who can't play the ball dominant style he used to sustainably. He went the unselfish route of taking a paycut, ended up being the NBA assist leader by reinventing his game (21/11/7 with 38% from 3) and closed it out with some big playoff games. He delivered more than everyone was expecting and paying him to do this season in the big picture.

This is on Sixers past management as Elton Brand gave Doc a 5 year deal, maxed Tobias after panicking when Jimmy left, traded up for Fultz and traded away Bridges

Harden stats won't look good but he started the playoffs as the distant no.2 option, went on to be the best player in the first round and put in all-time performances in 2 games this series to win games Philly were not even supposed to win with Embid out/being clamped. He is not even on a max contract this year and more than satisfied his end of the bargain. This one is on Doc and Embid.

His level of accountability should be lower as the aging No.2 option who nobody even expected to ball out for big games unlike Embid and Booker IMO.
All that is true but he has to be far better than 9 points in a game 7, coming off a poor performance in a game 6. Embiid has tactical and technical issues he has to get through to improve his offensive impact in the POs (he was fine defensively) but I just have to think that Harden has a psychological block when it comes down to the business end of the season.

I see Embiid has thrown the rest of the team under the bus.

The internet told me that Jokic was the stat padding fraud though?
You’re the one who doubted your Nuggets ability to beat the Suns and I told you otherwise ?

Jokic is the best player by a long way & now has a respectable supporting cast

Joker & the very rare healthy AD are the 2 best 5s

Embiid is a monumental talent but fool’s gold in the playoffs and always has been

Head case Simmons won way more games in the playoffs for the Sixers than Joel ever has

They scapegoated Ben & Thybulle then got torched on the perimeter

Embiid has played with Simmons, Butler & Harden and it’s still everyone else’s fault

People are waking up to this crap

Yikes

It was a horrible showing in game 7. His comments about the rest of his team were classless to say the least especially in view of his own failure. Also Embiid may never win a ring while Simmons may win himself one piggybacking on one or another superstar.

Having said all that he is still 10 times the player Simmons was pre-injury. And that’s without saying Simmons is a talented and reputed choke artist in his own right.

Here is the thing. Harden is a future HOFer. He is not just an aging No:2 option in this lineup, he and Embiid are supposed to be a superstar duo even if Embiid is a clear No: 1 at this stage of their careers. This team has had a lot of regular season success in the past 3-4 years, they were positioning themselves as a contender and trying for a championship. He did well against the Hawks but against a real contender, Harden failed in the two games (the 1st one at home as well, he was a combined 7 of 27 with 10 TOs in those two games) where the team had a chance to eliminate the Celtics. All of the stats successes during the regular season don't really count for much when this guy consistently disappears in the playoffs during crunch time.

Agree, I don't think being old mean you give up on a clear lay-up to pass out to the wingman, or just stop bothering to attempt 3s yourself.
