Yep, his done well on returning to the side, bar a few periods of avgerage overs... but who doesn'tMr Mxyzptlk said:Kallis on fire! Good for him.
I obviously haven't seen Gough bowl this summer, but his figures seem pretty solid. He seems to have made a smooth transition back from injury. Am I right in this assumption?
he should've been bowling attacking leg spin...Neil Pickup said:Giles

Chris, nobody is saying that spinners should always be defensive in ODIs.
Your suggestion that pace bowlers play the containment role and the spinners attack is laughable when used in context with the current English ODI side. James Anderson, Darren Gough and Richard Johnson are not containment bowlers and will go for as many when trying to keep it down - they won't bowl the unplayables either.
The simple facts at present are that we don't have a wicket taking spinner, we have four excellent (if inconsistent) quicks, so Giles can tie down an end as a counterweight.
Oh, Terry Jenner is in charge of the ECB Spin programme. The problems are at club level, not Internationally - and I'm yet to see a better option for spin bowling than Ashley.
Good ball excellent shot he drove him a leggie would been happy with that it does not matter if you get hit for 6 but the next ball is a ChallangeNeil Pickup said:Giles

I don't know how to break this to you Chris, but Batty has played 2 matches. The second of which he bowled 10-0-65-1 and his debut 10-0-55-0. I don't know where you got your stats, but someones misleading you.chris.hinton said:And Gareth Batty went for 40 off 10 in his only match but created 3 chances which is more then Giles ever does
It must have just cleared the rope then.chris.hinton said:Becasue if it been say 6 feet either way then it would have been a wicket it was that close Giles created a chance

Hey he got a wicket in his 2 games Giles has only got one in 7 matches... and Batty was playing against the world championsMr Mxyzptlk said:I don't know how to break this to you Chris, but Batty has played 2 matches. But techincally they are still 1 wicket each so if Batty played another 5 matches would he get another wicket?chris.hinton said:Hey he got a wicket in his 2 games Giles has only got one in 7 matches... and Batty was playing against the world champions
Yet again you are misinformed.chris.hinton said:Hey he got a wicket in his 2 games Giles has only got one in 7 matches... and Batty was playing against the world champions
His Ecom is good but HE does not wicketsMr Mxyzptlk said:Yet again you are misinformed.
Giles has 3 wickets in his last 7 matches. His average is 89, but his econ. is 4.45.
Batty's econ. was 6. It's ridiculous to compare the two anyway. One is way more experienced than the other.
It's ODI cricket!!! Gough/Flintoff/Anderson combines for an average 4 wickets per macth. Then there's Johnson who will be used to take wickets, which he is very capable of doing. If Giles can tie up one end, I think England have a good ODI attack.chris.hinton said:His Ecom is good but HE does not wickets
As I've said before, at the moment he's not even economical, which is the problem. He's bowled in 3 matches so far and he's gone for 139 runs from 26 overs without taking a wicket at an econ of 5.35 an over.Mr Mxyzptlk said:It's ODI cricket!!! ok, But Giles should still attack with Gough and Anderson, And since when did West Indians know anything about spinMr Mxyzptlk said:It's ODI cricket!!!
