This match simply confirming what was already apparent: Brad Hogg is a very ordinary spinner. Bangladesh have by and large treated him with complete disdain, and rightfully so. More mixed-up fielding in the deep as I type.

I still can't quite see it, but, I tell you what, they'll never have a better chance, will they?
I'd think not. I really do hope they win, Bangladesh have far more to gain than Australia do to lose. If Australia lose, they'll probably be ridiculed for a while, at least until they retain the Ashes (:p), but no real harm will be done. If Bangladesh win, a lot of their critics will shut up for a while at least, and they can always point to this match as justification for their status (regardless whether it is sufficient justification or not).

Thrilling strokeplay from Ashraful, awesome to watch. More extras from the Aussie bowlers...

Hehe, the excuses and belittling of the game are coming already and Australia haven't even lost yet.

I'm not belittling the game at all... please explain to me how I am. Australia will undoubtedly and justifiably be criticised if they do lose (and even if they don't); I'm just saying that any criticism they receive pales in comparison to the benefits Bangladesh will get from this game.

66 from 57. Very very very doable. Come on Bangladesh, a win over India was one thing but to beat the world champioions would be outstanding.

"but no real harm will be done" - that certainly suggests it's just some meaningless game, it's certainly meaningful when you're under threat of losing to Bangladesh.

Lehmann's up in the camera hoist at about 100 feet! The way things are going it's lucky he's strapped in. :p

In the context of this series, a loss may result in some 'real harm', but I am just stating my opinion that I don't believe it will have a huge effect in the long run on the performance of Australian cricket. If Australia slide to defeat after defeat then it will indeed have been harmful; I don't believe that will happen though. The point of the original post was that it is will be (IMO) far more important to Bangladesh than to Australia, which is partly why I hope Bangladesh win.

Of course the game is meaningful, inasmuch as it is Australia's first ODI on an Ashes tour. Bangladesh have performed at a consistently higher level than Australia in this game and if you read my earlier posts they are all consistent with that view. So please don't try to paint me as a typical (to your mind) parochial Aussie supporter denying that this match has any meaning.

damn you! i have Brad Hogg :(
I do too, but Bashar and Ashraful succeeding is more valuable than Hoggy getting belted.

Plus Hoggy did get a wicket :p

Damn Bashar is run out. NO!!!!
Argh, that was a pretty awful way to get out. Still very even, Aftab can certainly bat well, has to be middling it from the outset though. Mashud and Rafique can both bat properly, and Mashrafe is pretty adept at hitting boundaries. Hopefully they go after Hussey.

Australia punished for having a short fine leg, 42 from 34...

Good over from Bangladesh in the end, but they need a couple more boundaries to REALLY put the pressure on, and have only a run-a-ball needed.

This is great, I'm glad I stayed up for this.

Hopefully Ashraful will get MotM regardless of the result. Looks like Gillespie and McGrath will bowl the final five.
