Nah..

Mind you I am of the school of thought that nowadays all keepers should be excellent batsmen as well...

I've only seen one innings, admittedly, but it doesnt bode that well....

A wides a wide doest matter what happens after it.
From the MCC code of laws 2003:

Law 39 STUMPED

1) Out Stumped
a)The striker is out stumped if
(i) He is out of his ground
and(ii)he is receiving a ball which is not a No Ball
and(iii)he is not attempting a run
and(iv)his wicket is fairly put down by the wicket-keeper without the intervention of another member of the fielding side
b)The striker is out stumped if all the conditions of (a) above are satisfied...

...Which they were, therefore Vaughan is out

ne1 else impressed with dinesh karthik?
I was impressed with his keeping. I thought he'd be another Geraint Jones, but the stumping of Vaughan and the appeal against Giles impressed me greatly

Yeah i think you have missed the point, I'm not arguing whether he should be out or not, but the fact that the ball should have been called a wide as it was far out side leg stump - therefore there should have been another ball.

What about the drop off Vaughan? game could have been over well before it got close if he'd taken that.

got to say its probably good for India that Khartik got out- he never looked like scoring many runs, he looked a little out of his depth, hope his wicketkeeping goes ok

I thought he was a superb hitter who was the answer to all their problems?

Looks like he's been "Balaji"ed to me!

Looked like a good keeper.. I was impressed with the quick effort he and Kaif did to get rid of Collingwood.. Apparently the whole play took less than a second...

I actually thought he was perilously close to knocking the bails off before the ball was in his glove, but i agree it was a great piece of work

Noo, Marc, you are getting him mixed up with Deep Dasgupta, Vijay Dahiya, Ajay Ratra AND Parthiv Patel!

please someone tell me WHY McGrath is still in the England team? He didnt bowl today which shows the faith they have in his bowling and yet again he failed with the bat. The sooner Pieterson is avaliable and replaces him the better!

The much maligned Indian bowlers come up with the goods ! Amazing !

It was refreshing to see Karthik get a go -- I hope he gets more chances in the upcoming Champions trophy.

Good captain's knock from Ganguly -- hopefully the win will give his team much needed confidence.

Excellent bowling from Harmison & co -- a pity the batting didn't quite match it.
