The line of thinking was probably that if they had to drop a pacer to fit in the second spinner, that would have been Cummins and he is the captain

Remember them doing something equally stupid in 2011 by loading the squad with pacers and only having Krejza

HUH? Why. The. ****. Is maxwell at 5????? I love how we spent these past 4 years turning maxwell into a #7 and getting good results for it, than when the WC rocks up we send him out at 5. He's just come back from an injury, is gonna be bowling more than ever with no other spinners in the squad, and yet we send him in higher then ever and increase his workload more. It's so stupid.

Tbf, I never bought Maxwell would be anywhere other than 5.

the actual team for today is, just about, what they should have done. it's just that everything leading up to day has been insanely muddled

Maxwell at 5 isn’t bad at all, you just can’t expect him to come out with a run rate under 4 and anchor the innings that’s never been his ideal Role. If your top/middle order have a better start ideally you want him to bat out the last 15-20 overs compared to him batting at 7 and facing like 5-10 overs. Plus he doesn’t take as long to get going compared to green

They should stop Marsh opening. He is a one guy who can do a real damage down the order and they basically expose him to his biggest weakness

If Head returns and Marsh drops down to 5/6, it looks a lot better
