and the West Indies, since it will be the last time the great Sachin Tendulkar & Brian Lara play cricket over here, geez thats rough on cricket fans..
You figure Lara carries on to that series? I seriously doubt it. He was practically bowing out on the 2004 tour.

Drop Pathan, anyone? 8-)

He did score a nice 64, so I would stick with him for the rest of the series. But he is not here as a batsman so he better start shaping up with the ball.

Right. We can't drop him if we want to play five bowlers. Bring in Sreesanth for RPS though, perhaps.

Realistically speaking, Irfan Pathan has been good so far as an ODI bowler. Munaf Patel has been good so far as a test bowler. Sreesanth has been pretty good in both roles. After that, it's potential and only that. Are you willing to accept any of that?
Surely Sreesanth and Patel still fall under "potential".

Right, but the potential is still there. Why would you label them as failures?
Not failures, but they haven't accomplished anything to call them successes either. The point is that they're still very much unproven and, like so many Indian seamers, are potentially good. But also like so many Indian seamers, it's very easy to assume that they will just flatter to deceive.

Yeah they aren't established sucesses on the international circuit, but definitely worth persisting with don't you think? I'm not saying they will turn into world-class material, but they've certainly shown enough promise and performed well enough to stay in the team right? That's all I'm saying ... in response to SS's view that if they're not proven, they're automatically failures and should be equated to ****, especially if they're Indian seamers. Basically, this should include guys like Taylor and Edwards as well. Not proven, but the talent is there so give them a chance until they clearly fail. I doubt SS would bash them in the same fashion though.
