I know that wickets vs ireland don't exactly account for much but even with out that jayasuriya has become gun out of seeminly nowhere. He wasn't marnus level of subpar before turning into a god but before that series vs Australia he was a fairly average spinner by sri-lankan domestic standards, no?

3/224 in New Zealand not very god like. Reckon he'll pick up loads of wickets at home though.

Expectation for Ireland for a couple of years should be to compete at test level and not to win. If they can groom their test skills gradually, there is potential for them to be a good test side in future in SENA conditions. Stirling, Tector, Tucker and Balbirnie are decent batsmen. While Little and Young are good bowlers, they are still little and young and should do well as and when they gain experience.

It is a hard era to debut in, for touring. In that there are no warm up games anymore. Let alone putting their own FC structure into hiatus.

But, the flip side is they could be able to ambush some people at home, for the same reason. If ......... they ever play at home, which the CEO seems to have little urgency for.

Harsh. If it wasn't for him, that home test might never have happened.
