I'll never forget Tendulkar's wicket: Dockrell

Sachin Tendulkar's dream wicket in World Cup is Irish teenager George Dockrell's biggest scalp in his short career and the promising left-arm spinner said he will cherish that moment throughout his life with his kids

George Dockrell i guess was the captain of Ireland in u19 level & Also lead Ireland team

Ireland getting a hard lesson on playing in the sub-continent.

I bet Dickwella is angry missing this one. He could have finally got thar elusive test century.

Ireland giving me early 2000s Bangladesh vibes here.

Some chatter that Ireland could have gone with another front line bowler but would have made no difference.

The gap between those 2 in tests is insane, compare how much first class cricket Lanka's top 5 have faced against Ireland and then the difference between the bowling attacks!

No need for Lanka to bat again unless the top order want to improve their stats, hopefully Ireland can get 250 or so next time round and salvage a small bit of pride.

Lankan bowling is very green. No one tops 50 wickets. There was a time when two or three bowlers in the side were 200 wickets up.

Ireland on their home pitches will be different proposition. Bangladesh were just meh oh home and away, on green tops, dustbowls and roads alike.
Don't think they have any interest in home tests sadly though. When the summer comes around its about making money playing the formats the Irish general public care about and where they can be somewhat competitive.

Bangladesh back then at least were more interested in hosting home tests compared to Ireland of 2023.

They can play some matches in May. it may be bitterly cold, but there will be teams who are not that much affected by IPL who are willing to tour. Ideally you can get some matches with teams that tour England. The teams touring will also benefit by acclimatization.

Ideally Ireland tests should be followed up with ODIs and T20s. That will generate additional interest from Irish public I suppose. If I was SLC, i would get Ireland and Afghanisthan in a triangular and probably allowing Ireland to use grounds as Pallekele as a home ground where it suits their bowling much more.
