Again, they made 183-3. Were 115-0 or something around 12 overs. Didn't make the most of their batting at all really. And managing 200 plus is very very tough given it was first innings(no dew) and facing the best attack of the competition

Again, bowling quality shouldn't matter as much here. The goal is to score as much runs as possible, that does mean taking risks against good bowlers. 3-4 good hits would have made it a better contest because of RR's shallower lineup. And it wasn't like they managed 9-10 runs by running, they were giving up 4 run overs. After 13 overs and when Chahal and Ashwin are bowling in tandem, not easy to smash them. Plus Burger was amazing at teh death
But bowling quality does matter, and on some occasions Kohli was unsuccessfully trying to sweep Chahal, taking outrageous risks, after Faf’s wickets would’ve meant leaving stuff to a horrifically out of form middle orderAgain, bowling quality shouldn't matter as much here. It doesn't. Not as much as Tests, and in any case some good hits would've forced changes anyway in bowling strategies unless they want to give away runs for free. RCB's middle order never got to bat when they wanted to, so it's not like coming in earlier would've hurt them at all.But bowling quality does matter, and on some occasions Kohli was unsuccessfully trying to sweep Chahal, taking outrageous risks, after Faf’s wickets would’ve meant leaving stuff to a horrifically out of form middle order
183 wasn't a good score there. Let alone if you know how bad your bowlers are.183 was a good score, and could’ve been defended with a decent bowling lineup. Not Kohli’s fault the bowlers are crap
In Sawai Manshigh it’s around par, especially against RR’s bowling183 wasn't a good score there. Let alone if you know how bad your bowlers are.
Bro some more good hits weren’t that easy? it would’ve been easier if Kohli was batting in the 2nd innings against Dagar ans Himanshu SharmaIt doesn't. You can't aim for par though, like others have said. That's just asking to lose.In Sawai Manshigh it’s around par, especially against RR’s bowling
Doesn't matter how hard it is though, still needs to be done right in order to win. Perhaps having a spin basher in earlier to help with that would have been nice.Bro some more good hits weren’t that easy? it would’ve been easier if Kohli was batting in the 2nd innings against Dagar ans Himanshu Sharma
That makes sense. But not VK’s fault. And against 183 is defendable there. And it’s good against that attack. And needs to be done isn’t an automatic conversion to can be done easilyDoesn't matter how hard it is though, still needs to be done right in order to win. Well again it’s easier said that done, and when the rest of your batsmen are crap, tough to go all out. Plus getting out would’ve meant an lower score, which would’ve amounting to forfeitingYou can't aim for par though, like others have said. That's just asking to lose.
Kohli's fault is in not maximizing the balls he faced. Just because he did better than the rest doesn't mean he played well. That makes sense. But not VK’s fault. And against 183 is defendable there. If the rest of the batters are crap, that's only more incentive to go all out IMO. You're not guaranteed runs either way, so try to get as much early on so that you can get away with slowing down later on.Well again it’s easier said that done, and when the rest of your batsmen are crap, tough to go all out. Agree with this. But scoring at 157 is good, even Buttler and Samson scored at 170 odd vs a significantly worse attack in better conditionsKohli's fault is in not maximizing the balls he faced. Just because he did better than the rest doesn't mean he played well.
I get that none of this is easy, but none of this seems to be part of RCB's strategies, which is problematic to me.
Not necessarily, cause if you get out very soon, you’ll end up at 160-170.If the rest of the batters are crap, that's only more incentive to go all out IMO. You're not guaranteed runs either way, so try to get as much early on so that you can get away with slowing down later on.
