Mumbai have always had the strategy of holding out their best bowlers for the second half of the innings.. I remember the days when teams use to struggle against them for first 10 overs, and then you'd see they have yet to bowl out their Boult, Malinga, Johnson or Bumrah.. It is a strategy but in T20 a captain should be ready to adapt quickly... Pandya is not showing that adaptability as much..
It's important to recognize that the game has changed from what it was a few years ago; it has evolved. Consequently, strategies should evolve as well, especially in the right environment. New insights can be gleaned from old data.

Lokesh Rahul's affinity for a powerplay strike rate of 100 is as natural as his ability to find the boundary with ease. In the IPL 2024, he's been smashing it at a rate of 150, and on a good day, he's even soared to a striking 176.92. It seems the powerplay is his personal playground where he scores not just runs but style points too!

Good God, he's going at 90 after 10. Is it a tough wicket?

Edit: Gone for 29 off 33. Candidate for the season's Raspberry surely.

The bowling has been relatively tough, yet not worrisome. This is evident in the limited number of boundaries scored thus far: one four and three sixes.
I think LSG missed a chance here.. They should've waited and targetted the spinners.. Just play out Bhuvi and Cummins may be..

I believe they played too cautiously. When you're cornered, you need to find a way to break free, such as by taking quick singles.

Oh crap, now a run-out.

16 games outside India at 11, just the one against Ireland, rest all heavy-hitters. What has skewed perceptions entirely out of proportion is the little phase he had following the English assault at the 2019 ODI WC. The bolded bit is on purpose. We've done a bang-up job of conflating formats in his case.
And everyone forgets that even in that match Kuldeep had better returns than Chahal. It made no sense to drop Kuldeep for remaining world cup games even then.

Looks like Hooda's been promoted to the role of a cricketing finisher today. Previously, he was more of a top-order cameo artist, usually batting at number 3 or in that neighborhood.

What does Kuldeep Yadav average with the ball in T20's for India ?
he wasnt a regular starter for KKR for multiple seasons including 2021 and finally got back on track with a good season for a new team in 2022, why ignore this context? you’ve also ignored the team deliberately picking finger spinners who could bat as 1st priority because they didnt think spin would be a big factor in the world cup and they were proven right. the only player who could have been replaced by Kuldeep was Harshal Patel

if anything Bishnoi was the one who was robbed of a spot in 2022, the man had good international form, was the best bowler in the Asia Cup match against Pakistan but was weirdly dropped after that match and then excluded because his ipl form was meh

Kuldeep was just a victim of unfortunate circumstance, there is no grand conspiracy here lmao

You might as well call it a night if you make less than 175 in the IPL from now onwards. Team batting second can go nuts in the PP and make a formality of the game. It's going to be the equivalent of the hated middle overs of an ODI.
