David Warner instead of Collingwood imo. If he fails repeatedly, Collingwood should be picked.

Dimi and Henderson good shouts to keep out Morkel and one of Smith/Watson some of the time, I think.

Considering it is election time, and that all parties are playing vote bank politics, and that the IPL is swayed to the right wing consisting of radical hindutva parties like the BJP, I don't think that is going to happen.

I rate Yo Mahesh more highly, for what it is worth. I think he can follow Dinda and Kulkarni with the IPL being the big breakthrough in his career.
Might be good in longer-form cricket (his record doesn't suggest it), but in T20 he's medium-pace and horribly inaccurate. Occasionally gets wickets because he's always targeted as a weak link. His batting's useless in the format too.

Sangwan's better for mine, but i'd have thought surely they'd be able to find a fifth bowler better than either.

MI
- Tendulkar
- Jayasuriya
- Dhawan
- Duminy
- Bravo [Ashraful]
- Nayar
- Shah [wk]
- Bhajji
- Zak
- Malinga [Mills/Fernando] / [Ashraful, batting up]
- Kulkarni / bowler
Kulkarni is a limited bowler, and stronger batting sides will get on top of him easily. Nayar is not cut out for T20. Let's not forget, this is the IPL, a T20 tournament involving top international players. He had it good last season, but it's unlikely that he'll repeat the feat. They can have one of Mills (especially) or Dilhara ahead of him, and pick a local batsman. Their foreign bowling base is their strength, and they should pick more of them. Someone like Rahane or Saurabh Tiwary will be a lot more useful.
RR

- Jadeja
- Warne
- Rawat [wk]
- Trivadi
- Munaf
Morkel, Henderson, Smith and Warne should be the combination. They can have Niraj Patel playing ahead of Munaf Patel; they have six other bowling options at hand, and having an extra batsman will help. Besides, Niraj Patel is a far better fielder.

Yo is a rookie pacer with zip and nip and is definitely a prospect for the future. I can see him playing International cricket in another 3-4 years.

Out of curiosity, why? I have always regarded Nayar as India's next Robin Singh. A lower order slogger capable of grinding it out when needed in ODIs, and very handy with the ball, and a good fielder. And his performances so far in domestic cricket suggests he is only getting better.

That's a good team. They will miss Maharoof if he's unavailable; he'd come in place of AB or Collingwood. I'd say it's a toss-up between Yo Mahesh and Sangwan, both of whom are evenly matched all round, though Sangwan is a more effective batsman. However, he's an easy target to hit for quick runs, even when he's bowling well. Yo Mahesh struggles to get control, but has been a lot more sucessful last season.

Frankly, Nayar is a better fit in longer versions of the game. He's only medium-pace with a bit of movement. He can do his bit as a filler bowler quite well there, apart from getting quick runs in the middle-order, which is his main strength. In T20, however, he'll get smashed for loads of quick runs as this format is unforgiving on filler and part-time bowlers. No doubt he's worth a shout as an all-rounder prospect for India, but when you have Zaheer, Mills, Malinga, Dilhara and Bravo as seam bowling options, he doesn't stand much of a chance, unless one of them (or even two, since the Lankan seamers are injury worries) sits out.

The Kings of Punjab will miss Kyle Mills, who has shifted to Mumbai.

We don't know if Brett Lee is available, in which case, we'll see Luke Pommersbach come back. Although James Hopes may be an option as a batsman, there's this temptation to play him as a seam-up bowler, and he's absolutely terrible with the ball, so he stays out. I'm undecided about Sarwan and Mahela.

I have always believed T20 is bat-oriented game, and on a good (or bad) day, even the best bowler can be taken to the cleaners. Hence, I am inclined not to put much of premium on an allrounder's bowling utility than the cursory. However he is quite destructive as a batsman, and converted many hopeless chances for MI last IPL to wins/near-misses. What do you think of his batting?
