I just had a huge thought cross my mind. Why is'nt Lara playing in the IPL? Age wont be a problem to a legend like him.
Had an ICL contract and was released after he suffered an injury that the ICL bosses claimed meant he would never be able to play competitive cricket ever again.

That sucks. Would have been a real force if he had played alongside Warne for RR.

can't wait for the tourney to begin .... it's a good opportunity for Indian domestic players to gain the experience of playing in a country like SA

Key players for the teams:

- B'lore: KP, Ryder, Boucher, Styen and Uthappa .... they have Taylor, Bracken, Kallis, etc but only 4 international players can play in the11

- Chennai: Dhoni, Raina, Flintoff, Hayden, Oram and Morkel .... have Fleming, Nitini, Murali too

- Delhi: Sehwag, Gambhir, McGrath, DeVilliars, Vettori and Collingwood

- DC: Gilchrist, Symonds, Gibbs, D Smith and Rohit .... Edwards, if the want to add to the quick bowling or Styris for experience

- Punjab: Yuvi, Sangakara, Marsh, Lee, Hopes, Irfan

- Kol: Gayle, D Hussey, McCullum, Mendis and Ishant .... support in form of Ganguly, Agarkar and co

- Mumbai: Tendulkar, Jayasuriya, Malinga, Zak, Duminy, Bhajji, Bravo

- Rajasthan: Warne, Smith, Morkel, Watson, Y Pathan .... have Langer, Tait, Mascarehantas, Henderson as well to play around with
Problem for BRC is most of their Indian players are crap. They'll inevitably have 2 or 3 weak links. They'll miss Misbah mind.

Chennai look good, but their top order is a touch weak, I don't rate Fleming as a T20 player.

Delhi look very good but the bowling's a bit thin.

DC look incredibly temperamental, a lot will depend on Symonds form.

Punjab actually look pretty good all round, a bit dependent on Yuvraj for firepower though. Will be interesting to see if Marsh can repeat his form. Not too sure about their middle overs bowling.

Kolkata have a lot of talent, though I don't think they'll be too consistent, they'll also be hamstrung by only 4 international players.

Mum - IMO the best side in the comp, especially in SA. Very complete.

Rajasthan - How good will Warne be one year on? They'll really miss Sohail Tanvir.

I think this year will be quite different to last year in terms of player performances due to it being in SA. I'm tipping Mumbai to get to the finals but to then bottle it.

Jerome Taylor out of the IPL. Shame for I was looking forward to seeing him play and he is a genuine quick but Punjab have replaced him with 20/20 specialist, Yusuf Abdulla. :)

no mussey,
probably no Oram,
cant depend on Flintoff and he is useless with the bat anyway.
lots of FTBs in the team who will struggle in SA.

the bowling is still weak-just like last year.
Ntini knows the RSA conditions well and could have a good impact as a bowler.

Gony is also a hit-the-deck sort of a bowler who did reasonably well last season.

Muralitharan has the advantage of playing in marginally bigger grounds this season.

Flintoff's batting wont be needed as much when the team has Raina, Badrinath, Albie Morkel, Hayden, Dhoni, Murali Vijay in the side.

Albie Morkel has experience playing T20s in RSA.

CSK has the best chance of winning the IPL imo.

My CSK line-up would be:

M. Hayden
M. Vijay
S. Raina
M. Dhoni
A. Morkel
A. Flintoff( Oram or Thushara after Flintoff leaves)
S. Badrinath( Promote him to no.5 if there is a collapse or a lot of early wickets)
M. Gony
L. Balaji
R. Ashwin
M. Muralitharan

****! Can't fit Ntini in this line-up. Its between him and Murali or the option of going in with 5 bowlers. Hate the 4 overseas player rule.

kidding about ntini right?-that guy will probably not play many games and will get hammered-did you see the last game against the aussies?

murali struggled in IPL-1 and will not be very successful here too.I think Raina will do well but Badri will struggle.basically CSK will be very beatable and will get beaten-a lot.

Instead of oram they are getting Flintoff i would take it any day of the week

Hussey played only 4 game last time around so wont be missed much

and if the pitch do does some thing they have a bowling line up to be effctive

and can you name a couple of FTB's and its 20-20 rite no test cricket for FTB's to be in trouble

Who are these guys?

Virat Kohli has trouble hitting sixes and is not capable of leading attacks from the front against international bowlers. Yet.

Just came to know that CSK have got George Bailey(Tasmanian Vice-Captain) in the side. Looks like a T20 machine from his stats.

I think CSK have a great pool of international players however the team struggles with its domestic players. Their performance dipped a bit last year after Hayden and Hussey left for national duties. However, I do think that Vijay's inclusion and Hayden being there for the entire season will help them greatly. Certainly one of the better teams in IPL.
