If it is a 'contest' then they shouldn't be charging Rs5 per SMS .... What do they usually charge for SMSes in India, I guess it's Rs1 or are they free?
For these special SMS'es, the charges vary from one rupee to three. It's not like a regular SMS you send to any telephone number- there are these special SMS numbers which are barely five digits long, which are service numbers.

Five rupees for one SMS is expensive, especially when the total cost for participating completely is possibly as much as a prize elsewhere.

16 overs gone and only 100 runs on the board- shots were 100% needed.
Yusuf is perfectly capable of scoring 20 runs in an over- and there's at least one such over against this attack. Besides, the Chennai team depends a fair bit on Hayden, who's almost unstoppable, and Raina and Dhoni, who are in form, so the Royals needed a big total to win. Their batting was quite thin, so they needed Yusuf to stay till the end, and play a big innings. He's never done that, bar two matches, and for someone not considered a full-fledged bowler, in a team where he's the top batsman, he's been below par.

I thought that was a good shot to play on that ball! He didn't middle it properly and Oram did a good job of not going over the ropes

a little better connection and who knows YP could have had a 30 of 15 balls! If he had done something silly then criticizing him would be fair even with the benefit of hindsight but in this case it's not .... that was a good shot to play on that ball and he has a quite a success playing that shot!

A lot of things like dialer tunes, SMSes etc are waste of money too then. It is a punt taken by interested persons to win something. Everyone is free not to take it.
Most of them are one-shot affairs, and it's just minimal in comparison. Here, it is a contest, and trying really hard to win, someone may spend an excessive amount of money on the sum total of all SMSes. There are so many contests which have been run, which offer a great prize over nearly zero expenses.

There may be many, but once they realise the catch, there may be few left trying to win.

This isn't just one chance that came off (for the fielder), but one instance too many of Yusuf Pathan throwing his wicket away cheaply. He's more or less just a batsman in this team, and it's not a good record. There were other chances to take. Jacob Oram has often caught Yusuf or someone else when a six was a possible result. When he's more of a batsman, and possibly the best batsman in the team, a lot better is expected, and his early dismissal may be why they may lose this match.

Just an over ago, Yusuf was the victim of a misfield that gave away two runs, but that was a very good over.

As I said I thought that was a good shot to play on that ball! Are you suggesting that he not go for a shot that's on in a T20 game and rotate strike which most batsman can do?

I suggest he play a substantial innings, like Hayden or Gilchrist or Symonds or Dilshan or AB. They got big scores, without having to go slow.

looks like you are expecting someone to play a substantial inning with 36 balls to go and that too by not playing shots that are on!

PS YP in IPL'09
1. 24 against DC, takes RR home
2. 62 of 30 against DD, takes RR home
3. 42 against KKR
4. Super over performance against KKR
5. 22 against B'lore, takes RR hom

still complaining?
