Judging by your comment, I would assume that you rank Ranji trophy > IPL. So let me ask you a question, do you post as much on Ranji trophy threads as much as you do on IPL's?

are you suggesting that you would care abt Ranji Trophy result? [My original Q was Ranji vs IPL]
btw, I do understand IPL is pure entertainment for you as you are not connected with the teams like many of the Indian fans are! I have friends from Mumbai, Delhi, B'lore, Chennai, etc and they refer to their IPL teams as 'we' [do you get the point]. So if it is Delhi playing B'lore, my Delhi friend would say 'hope we win against B'lore'. That's how connected majority of Indian fans are and that's how important the tournament is for them, which is something those following because a player of their country is playing in it don't seem to understand.
which is the reason why I called these type of fans as bummers as they undermine the passion, team value and regional rivalry, along with dismissing IPL as some kind of a circus [when IPL offers much more than any other domestic tournament irrespective of the format], only because they have no connection to teams. Now I don't object to ppl following IPL for whatever reasons [now SS is debating that they can follow for whatever reason they like which is not something I am even objecting to!] but don't appreciate it when these bummers don't get the point of view of the majority.
Say I follow country cricket because one of my fav players is playing in it. Since I am not emotionally involved with any team in county cricket, I am bound to take it as a source of entertainment but does that give me a right to go on and say that country cricket is just a joke or whatever when majority are following it because they not only identify with the players but also the teams. And when it is not even my domestic tournament!
Another example would be an Indian fan like me following EPL for his favorite player. Ofc, for me EPL is a source of entertainment as I have no connection what so ever to the teams but for a majority of EPL fans, there is lot of passion involved, team loyalty and so on. I won't be stupid enough to go to EPL forum and say it's just an entertainment for me, xyz team deserves to lose because it did not pick my favorite player and so on. Follow the tournament for whatever reason you are following it for but learn to see its importance from the PoV of the majority. Just as my opinion on EPL would be irrelevant in the larger scheme of things so would be of those who are following IPL for some thrills w/o any connection to the teams. The point is abt seeing the tourney importance from how it is suppose to be!

so Ranji, which is ranked higher in your opinion, is not considered good enough to be televised like IPL, which is shallow in your opinion .... what does that say?

The planning and management of this Mumbai Indians team is absolutely horrendous. It seems Mukesh and Nita Ambani are running this team, sidelining Sachin, Pollock and Amre, because the planning reflects a total lack of cricketing knowledge. Practical decisions have been benched in favour of a show of money, which is clearly affected in picking the playing XI, and also the batting order.
Most of the time, we find Sanath, Sachin, Duminy and Bravo and even Harbhajan Singh in the top four. When the going is good, they get to score the runs. When the team's in trouble, the responsibility of rescuing the team falls squarely on young Indian batsmen, who have had little or no time in the middle. It's not only shown some promising youngsters in bad light, but it's also had adverse long-term effects.
Moreover, we've seen their best bowlers on the bench, while rubbish (Kulkarni, Raje, Tendulkar himself) or unstable (Bravo, Nayar, Sanath) bowlers bowl as many as 20 overs. This has swung the advantage to the opposition batting side. Kyle Mills' exclusion is baffling. He's a very effective limited-overs bowler and also very useful with the bat lower down the order. Dilhara Fernando isn't perfect, but seeing some of the bowlers on show for the team, he's worth a shout.
Then there are those meetings that seem to happen. They've had a different batting order match after match, there's a different fifth bowler in every game, we even see Sanath benched for the erratic, misfiring Ronchi. He was a failure last year, and is a failure again. What are they thinking? If the team owners are running the show, they're not thinking cricket.

I m trying to imply that sometimes opinions can be way off the mark. It's not a bad idea to see things as they are suppose to be seen

Yeah Kulkarni must be rubbish.... 3 overs for 9 runs last night and against Deccan 21 runs 1 wicket of his 4 overs.
Seeing as you can only play 4 foreigners who do you propose to drop out of Jayasuriya, Malinga, Dumminy and Bravo to fit in Kyle Mills. I'd have all those 4 ahead of Kyle Mills tbh and same thing applies to Fernando.
One thing does baffle me though... why they aren't playing S Dhawan; is he injured or somthing. Whenever he played... they keep sending lower down the order when he's always played in top order for most of his career.
