Yah, KW is perfectly paired with the team he has. It's almost a blessing for SRH that Warner isn't playing. If he had, you know KW would've gotten 2 or 3 games batting at 5 in the order before getting binned for the rest of the season.

Team? - No.
Best bowling unit ever in IPL - Yes
But who even are Sandeep Sharma, Siddharth Kaul and Basil Thampi?

MI used to have an attack of Malinga, Zaheer, Bravo, Harbhajan in 2009-10. That was quite strong too.

Dodgy action aside, Sunil Narine must surely have a strong case for best T20 bowler ever alongside Malinga. I've almost never seen the guy taken apart.

That is a strong MI attack. But who else was bowling? If you look at the entire squad, I think SRH wil put some distance on MI with this years selection of:

1 R Khan 2 B Kumar 3 Shakib Al-Hasan 4 S Kaul 5 Sandeep Sharma 6 Billy Stanlake 7 Chris Jordan 8 Mohammad Nabi 9 Basil Thampi 10 Carlos Braithwaite 11 Yusuf Pathan. Kane Williamson hasn't even bowled a single over this year and Carlos Braithwaite hasn't played a single game.

You have to admit, this is very uncommon bowling strength. Stanlake and BK have missed a lot of games through injury, and the bowling unit has barely missed a beat.

Yeah, if SRH can keep the core of this team together, next year with Warner back, and now KW's proven season, they're automatically favourites to win next year. All they need to do is drop Hales. Warner's last four years of IPL have been ridiculous with 58 at 140+ last year, and over 60 at 150+ when they won in 2016.

But I suspect given KW's good form in last years IPL after missing many of the early games, and resigning him, that may have been among Moody's plans for this year (it was either bowl Stanlake or bat 2 imports) given he played in last years eliminator team for SRH. But right now, despite all their wins, batting is a big concern for SRH.

Warner's IPL form in recent years really flew under the radar compared to ABDV and Kohli.

But KW looks like he is right on track for a bright IPL career now and maybe even a Steve Smith level price tag at the next auction.

Kohli hasn't really shown his best in the IPL except for that crazy season where he hit 4 hundreds, I think. Overall, Rohit and Raina (and probably a few others) have been clearly better, I'd say. He's made some runs this season without really making much of an impact. Hope he's saving all his best form for England and Australia.

How tf is Kohli averaging 50 @ 135

Had barely noticed him this season
14th match (N), Indian Premier League at Mumbai, Apr 17 2018 | Match Summary | ESPNCricinfo

I don't want to upset Kohli fans, but in all seriousness if you take out the 92* runs he scores in this game where he admitted that he wasn't trying to win the game after ABDV got out mid-way through the 5th over, his average slumps to 38 and the SR to around 130.

Amazingly - Cricinfo has not included that part of the interview. However - it did exist:

The 29-year-old realised defeat was a foregone conclusion at one point and he focused on enhancing the net run rate. "At the end of the day, it's about ensuring the net run-rate does not take much of a hit."
And having watched it live, that foregone conclusion point he discussed was explicitly ABDV being dismissed - the 4th delivery of the 5th over and RCB just 2 wickets down. I'm actually pretty disappointed that cricinfo has omited it. I'm not sure if they had it in full to begin with.

IPL 2018 : Why Virat Kohli did not want to wear the orange cap after match against Mumbai Indians

The thing is that probably Virat needs to move ahead from RCB. He has been with them since eternity and has achieved nothing for them. A new team with different environment may change his fortunes.

Bhuvi, Sid Kaul and Sandeep; Rahid and Shakib: this is the best T20 attack that I've ever seen in the IPL.
If a couple of their other batsman can stand up in support of Williamson, this team would be odds on favourites to win every game.

On paper yea. But I don't remember the MI bowlers defending moderate totals as regularly as SRH bowlers this season have done.

Apparently Woody is returning home early to prepare for England contention?

Hopefully we'll get him for some of the Royal London Cup stuff which is commencing - what with Barry McCarthy having picked up a minor niggle.

PS

And as I said that Durham just announced he'll play the Derbyshire championship game (which slipped my mind).
