Sachin warms up for IPL with swashbuckling 78

in Practice Match...

THE PERILS OF having Sachin Tendulkar playing in good form, is that an objective analysis of the bowling doesn't remain possible. How do you appreciate the bowler for swinging the ball beautifully at pace and getting good bounce after he's just been hammered for consecutive sixes?

This was precisely the dilemma facing the Mumbai Indians coaching staff yesterday, at a pre-season warm-up match, as the Little Master carted his IPL teammates to all corners of the ground. From one end, you had Zaheer Khan and Dilhara Fernando creating all sorts of problems to the batsmen, while at the other, Tendulkar seemed to be in a league of his own.

JAM-PACKED CROWDS
PERHAPS never before has a practice match produced such jam-packed crowds, with spectators of all shapes and sizes jostling for every inch of available space along Bombay Gymkhana. And never again will you see the sight of such crowds baying for Zaheer Khan to be treated with the kind of disdain they would normally reserve for a Shoaib Akhtar or a Glenn McGrath. Mouths that opened to yell for a slog sweep remained open as wide as Sachin's bludgeoning blade, as he deposited the ball into the leafy sidewalks along the maidans.
And Sachin kept obliging these calls for bloodlust. He cut with finesse and pulled with ferocity, his back-foot punches made passer-by cancel whatever appointments they were hurrying to, instead choosing to bask in the warmth of the Master's batting masterclass.
For Nita Ambani, looking on from the makeshift dugout, it was a bittersweet moment. Tendulkar looking ominous is without doubt something to cheer about. But is it really possible to do so while your lead bowlers are made to look pedestrian?
Sachin, fresh from having scaled the Mt Everest of cricket at Gwalior, seems to have the more glamorous Swiss Alps of the IPL next on his agenda. For the 250-odd crowd who thronged Bombay Gym yesterday, that day can't come any sooner.

Sachin Tendulkar signs first IPL theatre ticket

UFO Moviez will show DLF IPL 2010 matches live on gigantic screens in cinemas across India. The matches will be screened in High Definition Digital format without commercial interruptions. Live matches in theaters will enhance the revenues of multiplexes & single theatres and tax collection for the government.

The theatres will have cricket related merchandises, exciting gifts; multi cuisine food stalls etc to cater to the entire family. To add to this excitement, a number of screening places will have cheer leaders and live bands.

UFO Moviez has entered in a strategic alliance with multiplex chains like Cinemax, INOX, Fame, PVR and others and also have partnered with single screen theatres for screening the DLF IPL T-20 matches starting from March 12, 2010.

Sachin Tendulkar stated, "This is a brilliant initiative especially for interior regions of our country where cricket fans can not experience the stadium energy. I am happy to give away this first theatre ticket and wish all my fans a wonderful experience in theatres."

UFO which has more than 1750 digital screens across India has tied up with Crown Infotainment, who holds the distribution rights for IPL 2010-2019 seasons, to introduce IPL matches in theatres. Till date the company has signed over 650 screens, out of which close to 200 are multiplexes. UFO is targeting to showcase the DLF IPL 2010 matches across 1000 screens.

Sachin-Autographed IPL Theatre Ticket Auctions For Rs 11 Lakh

Sachin Tendulkar's autographed IPL Ticket was auctioned for Rs 11 lakh today. The autographed ticket allows the owner to watch IPL action on the big screens of theatres across the country.

The auction began with the base price of Rs 5 lakh with the announcement that the auction money would be donated to Tendulkar-supported charitable organization 'Apnalaya'. The batting maestro during the unveiling of first ticket for matches to be seen in theatres spoke about support for his charitable organisation.

Sachin said, "I have been supporting this charity for a long time now. I am trying to help the charity by raising money and creating a platform for the underprivileged kids to express their talent," Tendulkar said.

Tendulkar also has announced donating his bat which helped him to attain the record double century in ODI for charity.

Would really be great if Tendulkar can turn it on this IPL. The problem there is that he has too many roles to do. He has to be the guy who bats through the innings and also due to lack of fire power last year had to be ultra aggressive. If a couple of guys in the middle order do well, Sachin could well turn it on.

CSK for IPL3 though.

I am here. I expect the same from Deccan Chargers. They were lucky last year in the Fake IPL. This is the real IPL in INDIA.

Just when I thought jerseys couldn't get worse than the black gold trainwreck of a costume, KKR surprised me with even direr one. Atleast the last one suited their comic relief role in IPL but this one doesnt even do that.

Quite excited about this now, have never seen any live IPL cricket and now I can watch on ITV or YouTube.

That story about Sachin playing at the Gymkhana is brilliant. Why are Mumbai playing in white trousers though? Isn't there an issue with the white ball there?
