Pakistan would be looking for a draw, but this time there won't be lucky escapes, Pakistan escaped the first time but this time they will face defeat
Escaped? Pakistan had a big lead by the time they finally declared in the first test. You talk about it like they scraped home by blocking out the dying overs with 8 or 9 down in the fourth innings - they actually had a fair chance at winning the game it there was another day to play.

Whatever it takes!!!
well, good to see Kaarthick do something with the bat. Hopefully, with God's grace, this will be the start of plenty more innings like this to come. Dravid has been phenomenal. I know I criticized him during the Aussie series but he is more than compensating for it now. Still, India will have to bowl EXTREMELY well to win this match from here.

Anyway, this is ridiculous from Ganguly, it reminds me of Ponting's daft declarations in Sri Lanka last year. 400 is a mammoth total on a fifth day Eden Gardens pitch. Pakistan will do well to bat out a day, let alone score 400+ in the process. Ganguly should declare and get Pathan and Balaji out there.

Is this a joke????

shocking captaincy here by ganguly.

There is no way pakistan are going to even try to chase 400 in a day. A declaration of 300 would have been sufficient, on a crumbling final day. This is overkill, and now india have gone from a good chance of winning, to a very slight chance

I think there is one batsman that influenced the indian thinktank into declaring so late, and that man is shahid afridi. India are wary that if he comes off, 350 in a day will be nothing. 400 is out of even afridi's reach.

I expect Afridi to come out with all guns blazing as he always does, and the rest of the team will just bat out the day.

A great test-match, but spoilt in the end by ganguly.

India still have a chance, but it's very unlikely now

I feel this ploy by Ganguly will win India the match, dunno why but get the feeling the Figure will play on Pak minds (everything said and done except afridi fator)

apparently there is still 15-20 overs left in the day. if pakistan knock of 60 of those runs today, thats only 340 in a day. a huge target, but not impossible.

Conisder this, Pakistan loses two wkts today(can be 3 or 4 too) then is it impossible for India to bowl out Pak tomorrow????

ON such a pitch Pak have very little chance of saving the match.

I don't think many ppl dislikes Afridi, a guy of limited potential but is very entertaining.
limited potential??? afridi? ok, u are seriously biased mate, he has unlmited potential. if he put his mind to it, he could be better than sehwag.

No...

The Indian target after the declaration was 293... that's a pretty significant total to chase in the fourth innings. To speak about it like an Indian victory was a foregone conclusion and say that Pakistan "escaped" is ludicrous... not that it isn't par for the course for you.

i guess thats fair...

he has a huge amount of potential, without a doubt, but he often fails to apply it.

U are thinking like an Australian captain, Pakistan doesn't think that way. They know their team's potential and they aren't that positive.

I can bet any amount of money that Inzi won't be thinking of a win, a draw is something he will be praying for.

Such incidents happens, you wanted Pathan to bowl Afridi for a duck, when Pathan himself happens to be the most misbehaved cricketer.
I would have liked to agree with you on that. But Afridi & Akhtar have been behaving badly for years before Pathan entered the Indian team. And all I would like to say in defense is that India needed to stand up to the sledging and bad conduct showed by the Australian and Pakistani players on the field. Btw, I rank Inzamam as the most well behaved and gentle man of all the cricket players at present. And I cant help myself from laughing when he says "Boyz are working hard."
