Problem is everytime a pacer from Pakistan gets a few wickets, we are made to believe (by Pakistanis and their symphathysers) that the guy happen to be a world beater :@
Anyone else spot the irony in that post?

Perhaps we tend to take our sports a tad too seriously?

A habit cultivated by those darned stiff-necked englishmen, I suppose?

i would say quite the opposite..its the indian bowlers who get all hyped up by getting a few wickets ...look at harbhajjan singh for example.. he's pathetic(can't buy a wicket outside of india)and yet people actually rate him

Indian, Pakistan and English fans seem to be the most unforgiving on their players IMO
Difference being England fans do not go to extremes, and it's very rare we see an English player talked up by English fans.

"will geraint jones be the next adam gilchrist"
"move over gilchrist, dhoni is here"

hmmmmmm. Funny how it's the australians that have all the stars, yet dont' do any of this bragging.

anyway, yes, harbhajan singh is way over rated and murali kartik should be in the side

Oh really?

So I'm imagining posts about "NSW would beat any Test side" and "Australia's A team would all be first choices for any other side" then?

English fans do go to extremes. Only they are more pessimistic and negative about their stars on more ocassions that the other countries. Its almost as if the English WANT to lose so that they can make fun of their players.

Atleast he can do good in India.

Pak on other hand doesn't seems to to have an offspinner , they had to recall Arshad Khan as in the population of 150+ million, there isn't a single decent young Offspinner

Its the same song the Pakistanis were singing right through the 90's mate. There has always been talent in most teams of the world, whichever team you look. The Pakistan team has underperformed due to politics/no unity for so much of the last decade.

Its good to see them united more than ever before even though there is Shoaib vs Inzamam. Woolmer and Inzamam are doing good.

Actually i heard a similar song on PTV right after 2003 WC :p , That Pak has the most talent, that they are unparellel, the champs, the God-gifted....blah,blah blah. 8-)

You got it all wrong mate, if you are talking about Rana Hasan, then i would like to point out that noone is labelling him as a "world beater" or a legend or anything even close to that.

Lets face it, Rana isn't as talented as any frontline pacer in Pak team (Akhtar,Sami,Shabbir,Gul) neither is he as talented as Indian pacers (Pathan,Khan, Balaji) but what is admirable is how has he performed despite of all his limitations.People in Pakistan consider him a hero, not because they think they have found a new Akram in him, but because they appreciate the way he plays the game, his dedication and commitement to the game and to his team are exemplary.

Unfortunately for Rana, i don't think he will be able to retain his place in the team for long. When Akhtar,Shabbir and Gul gets fits and become eligible for selection then it will become very hard for Rana to retain his place in the team.

I would've thought having someone like Rana perform like that will keep him in the team unless the other named players put some effort in and start getting results.
