"if it had been this way, or if it had been that way...."

Yes. They have a very earthy way of telling home truths. Its very appropriate and invariably funny. :)

Tendulkar averages 57 in Tests.
He averages 44 in ODI`s.

His bowling can be more than useful.

Why drop him? Cause you think he should be dropped? Show me some reasoning and I may understand.

And Nehrafan, don`t be discouraged. I thought your points were fine. Accepting a loss can be hard! I thought you took it well. :)

ok well most people consider jacques kallis to be a world class all rounder
No, they don't anymore.

Tendulkar has bowled in that time, 348.5 overs in comparison to 660.5 off kallis. which is almost twice as many overs
So Tendulkar is used for just under 3.3 overs a game - that is not an all-rounders workload by any stretch of the imagination.

In test matches India were a far superior team, unfortunately India didn't showed enough determination and hunger for win and as such Pak snatched a draw.
If they were as superior as you say, then Pakistan wouldn't have had a chance at a draw.

As it was, Pakistan comfortably drew the game in the end, and in fact that 4th innings chase could've very easily not been made had there been time left in the game.

And what makes you feel Kallis isnt a World Class all rounder any more.
I think the fact that he doesnt bowl that much anymore, and if he does, he doesn't pick up wickets at regular intervals.

I think Marc defines Kallis as a world class batsman who occassionally bowls a bit.

Accepted.

He hasnt been any good in the past two years. Ignore the 50 overs versus Zimbabwe where he took 11 wickets ant 9 a piece. Shows more about how poor Zimbabwe is.

kallis is still considered an excellent all rounder, and though he may not be as effective as before, he is still pretty gd. I understand what you mean though.

and your sayin 3.3 overs doesnt make an all rounder, well what i was saying that he is heavily under bowled as well. He has the bowling talent, but it isnt used properly

No he isn't. His bowling isn't up to it (unless it's Bangladesh or ZImbabwe!)

He's rarely used outside of Asia, and he's never been particularly good outside Asia, hence he's not good enough to be an all-rounder of any sorts.

When he feels like it that is.

When he doesn't fancy bowling, it's just coincidental that the batsmen are good players, but when the Zimbabwe games come along, suddenly his mysterious ailment which meant he couldn't bowl has cleared up!

If he is bowling 7 overs an odi, he certainly is good enough all rounder for one dayers. Not for tests for the moment though.

Except he isn't bowling 7 a game.

2005 - just over 4 a game, 3 wickets @ 61.66, eco of 6.34
2004 - just over 4 a game, 11 wickets @ 39.63, eco of 5.45
2003 - about 7 a game, 14 wickets @ 43.42, eco of 5.15

That's not an all-rounder's numbers.
