*Official* India Tour of New Zealand 2019

Well we go again tonight guys. Hopefully a win for NZ to keep this alive. Just rewatched Dougie's batting particularly against spin, extremely encouraging that he can bat like that against the quality of kuldeep, chahal, and jadhav (ugh). So confident and decisive in his footwork. Not troubled against pace as well.

My ideal 11 now is

Gup
Munro (At this point I'm glancing towards Will young though)
Kane
Ross
Latham
Nicholls
Neesham
Santner
Sodhi
Ferg
Boult

Harsh on Bracewell but Neesham would have to stink it up again to lose his WC spot to a Kuggelejin or Bracewell.

However our biggest concern is that Munro and Guptill's opening combo is one of the worst I can remember. There is just nothing to it. Either one of them alwwways gets out super early and Kane ends up facing the new ball. He might as well open.

why the rayudu hate? i haven't seen much of him because i very rarely watch non nz-aus random odis, and he does look uncomfortable against the short stuff, but he also scores runs and averages 49...

I'd put him in the ATG India XI if I was assured all our matches were going to be against Zimbabwe.

I kinda like this, but I still think to get 10 out of Neesham/KW/Munro might be tricky. Put Neesham at 6 and CdG at 7 and that's my XI.

Me too, but with Latham or Nicholls opening instead of Munro
Yeah I can see that, or even KW. But if they really want that explosive option I would hope they go someone like Phillips, throw him in the deep end, wouldn't be any worse than what Munro is supposed to be doing.

For the love of god, just let latham be in the middle, its where he's won/saved games for us. He opened a few times and did not succeed as much as he has in the middle. Lets drop the whole latham opening discussion. Nicholls also needs to stay in the middle. Let these guys get adapted to a role they are succeeding at. Also, CDG needs to go. He simply does not come off in ODI's or T20's. Much rather see the likes of bracewell and Kuggelejin be the next in line Allrounders after neesh and sants.

He's rumoured to be in the team due to Dhoni's nepotism.

Latham averages 38.0 opening in 37 matches, and 33.8 batting 5 and 6 in 31 matches.
I do remember him scoring three 50's on the trot against a gun SA attack in SA in 2015, and a big 100 against the bangers in 2017. Him opening isn't a move out of the dark but I feel against quality spin, he is the guy in the middle for us to do something. Plus, his match saving knocks in the middle (mind you, against quality opposition as well, including v india in india) have left a greater impression than whatever he has done while opening.

this close to the world cup i think we achieve more with both latham and nicholls in the team rather than just having one of them and a new player.

today surely has to be do or die for both colins and southee. if they're in the squad for the last 2 then they're going to england and our complaints are moot.

do people feel better about bracewell's potential spot in the 15 after the last game? i still think there's a place for wicket to wicket medium pace if used during the accumulation phase of odis, especially one who gets inconsistent bounce at surprising times like bracewell. if last game was indicative of his true batting level then i think if his bowling is used correctly he can be more reliable than henry or southee and makes cdg surplus to requirements (despite cdg being the much better batsman overall).

bracewell defs not a new ball bowler ever again sadly but i've felt for a while now he's going to be the andre adams of his time domestically haha

yeah bracewells batting is looking seriously decent, and he offers more with the ball than southee or cdg for sure. Not quick but he does have that cliched "heavy" ball.

Southee out, Bracewell in...I hope. I also think Latham should open and Munro should be dropped. No matter how much McMillan loves him, it's time they cut their losses.

And pleeease can we play both spinners today.

I def feel a bit better about Bracewell in the squad, but not in the starting XI. He's just not a player that's gonna win you games and that's why I still favour CdG slightly. I know he's probably only really won 1 game out of his 25 odd but it's the x-factor that puts him ahead for me at 7.

because odi stats are meaningless and he is garbage

unless you're specifically referring to a sample size of less than x games, i sense a new insane theory on the way

on rayudu specifically, because i've seen bugger all of him and did not know he'd feasted on zimbabwe, i'm happy to accept it's a rob nicol situation
