Haha yeah he definitely still deserved his place based on his tons in Aus and WI but it seemed really inevitable at that point but that he'd be out of the team again by the end of the summer.

Losing a test match isn't the end of the world but they are few positives for India to take from that bar a super partnership with Ravi and Pant.

Bumrah and Rahul both have captained India and neither have hugely impressed.

Kohli isn't done, but he is declining and I don't know about Vihari. The first class numbers are superb, but he just seems like a middling bat so far.

Early days on Gill and Iyer, but the latter I fear for outside Asia going forward.

I’ve had some time to think about this.

If Australia or India did this at home it probably wouldn’t be as big a deal. In fact they rarely get to chase such targets because the opposition is just not good enough to set them. They do other forms of humiliation like Nair 300 or Head mots.

Those teams tend to dominate throughout the entire teat match, whereas this baz led England go toe to toe with the opposition and then pull away in the final leg.

Therefore I can only conclude that these wins are only very special because England are in fact not very good.

Come to India then we’ll see
