He has to go. He’s had to stand like a lemon in the field at times waiting to bowl. I’d hate to have to wait as many overs as he does to get a chance. Been criminally underused given that there have been some decent pitches and spin is going to be vital on both the winter tours, should have bowled a lot more.

No matter how many experts come out saying '3-1 or 4-1, what difference does it make', 'throw caution to the wind, go for the win', this is not the right way to develop the temperament of a rather young team for test cricket.

‘Throw caution to the wind’ probably isn’t miles away from ‘just go out and play your natural game’ in terms of idiotic advice, and by all accounts that’s been the England coaching mentality for the last few years.
