I honestly don’t know why he is bowling like this. Surely it’s obvious that he shouldn’t bowl too fast and try to hit the rough?

It's got to be deliberate. You don't bowl seamup because you're tired.

That was atrocious from Root. Stokes was bogged down and quick singles are a good way of putting pressure on the fielding side. If Root responds to the call straight away, and then actually sprints, then he’s in easily.

You become a great player by playing great match winning innings. At this time Root is woefully short of that compared to a few others in world cricket right now.
