*Official* India Tour of England 2018

C'mon! Give the ball to Broad; this is just the kind of wicket on which he freaks out from time to time.
And probably, he would also have a much better slice of luck than poor Anderson.

Buttler really shouldn't be in the team. He's a bag of nerves with the bat, in the field and during interviews. Everything you need for test cricket and a test cricket team he doesn't have. He is the opposite personality of what I want in a test match team. He has no backbone. He's lazy and inattentive. That's all I've got to say. He's the English Dhoni with a bit more talent. Dhoni however has slightly more of a brain, hence the higher FC average. This bag of nerves, inattentive personality is perfect for limited overs and hit and giggle. Not proper test match cricket.
Bag of nerves and no backbone? How did he single-handedly take England to victory against Australia in that last ODI with the tail for company then? Maybe he's just a great limited overs cricketer whose game doesn't translate well to the long format.

The initialism 'ODI' is the operative word there. I don't think it's too long a bow to draw to say that someone with 4 centuries in 86 FC matches shouldn't be playing as a specialist batsmen, even if they do make their team's performance seem slightly less dire with a quick 30.

In test cricket he's a bag of nerves with no backbone yes. He's generally timid and this seems to do better in limited overs stuff. Time is running out and anxiety is high in the game anyway in the limited overs form. Test cricket is slower paced and calmer/more confident players rule the roost.

Bairstow looks badly injured there, looks like Malan is going to get called back for at least the next game. Seriously sucks for England though. On the positive side, at least Buttler isn't in the team as a specialist bat anymore.

Pujara is just hogging all the strike of late. Matter of time before a wicket goes here.

According to cricinfo England have taken 52% of their slips chances and India 58% off the quicks. Why Cook still fields there is a mystery.

Had composed the thought myself. Guy absolutely kills the rhythm of the game if the other bat isn't as stodgy. Dour, old-fashioned cricket, sure, but requires explicit understanding among team members as far as each others' roles go.

On the plus side, his form has been horrendous all summer so this is still encouraging to say the least.
