Annoys me how long it takes to get back on the field in a Test match. The covers are off, it's stopped raining yet inspection isn't until 3 which means no cricket until probably 3.30. Get out there now, tell the players to start getting ready, inspect and be back on the field for 3.
They knew play would not restart before 15.00 so gave the groundstaff time to get to work and and the ground some drying time.

It didn't rain for the last 3 months in London - yesterday saw the first rain.
It rained rather a lot a couple of Sundays back.

We've had 45 minutes of ****ing sitting around while the umpires had a nice cup of tea and biscuit. They've finally got off their arse to look at the pitch and by the time play starts again those massive clouds will come across and it'll start pissing down again. Cricket really does shoot itself in the bollocks sometimes.
Utter nonsense isn't it. Archaic crap like this hurts cricket so much. Atleast they haven't called for lunch with 2 runs to win, though.... that might never be topped.

Oh good. It's raining again. We've been sat around with the cover off for 40 minutes and just as play's about to start again it's raining again. Covers back on, wait for it to stop, wait half an hour to do another inspection, start play half an hour after that, rain starts again. Rinse and repeat.

Not going to get any more play today I don't think with the way it's raining now. It's torrential, massive puddles on the outfield already.

Good news - only 40 minutes until the next inspection. No doubt as soon as the umpires leave their room the rain will start coming down again.

Inspection at 5. So, play to resume at 5:20? Play will go on till 7:30. So, that's time for 10 more wickets.

But why they can't "inspect" the pitch before 3.
They can only inspect it once the groundsmen are done working on it. The blame here isn't on the umpires - they inspect it as soon as the groundsmen give it the okay. If it's sunny and there is no play happening it's probably because the groundsmen are waiting for some parts of the outfield to dry up or something

I think there's minimal chance of two hours' play tonight. But if England bowl well enough, an hour or so could be time enough to complete most of this innings and set them up to bat in easier conditions tomorrow.

EDIT
And now we're told that play will start at 5.10 8-)
tbf to Lord's, one good thing about the place is that the drainage is superb.

Watching the Vijay wicket again, I'm a little stunned people are blaming him for playing a rubbish shot. Sure he didn't play it well but jeez that moved ridiculously.
