I know Stoinis has a fine ODI average but when he got out and it was described (albeit by Shane Warne) as the “big wicket” you kind of know Australia are not very good.
Stoinis was trash today. Wasn't interested at all in taking singles and got out to an innocuous ball that he could easily have come forward to and got on the half volley, as handscomb would have. They need a proper coach tbh.

As far as basic skills go the teams looked pretty similar, but India were 100x better at the key aspects like running between wickets, fielding pressure and catching the ****ing ball.

Yeah i was trying to pinpoint the key aspects though. I was still a bit disappointed in India, have a lot of work to do to match the better teams at the WC from what I saw tonight. Aus have more to do though, but a few key players back should help somewhat. Still need to do the basics better though. Can't win games if you don't take your catches.

This Indian team actually needed hacks like him /Hardik/Raina/Jaddu etc. in the lower middle order. One too many proper batsmen there already.
2 of those are important because they make the team on bowling merit and add balance when selected. Raina was a far superior player to jadhav to even merit a comparison. He only gets into the team because of a vacuum in that lower middle order and to fill that finisher shaped hole after yuvi and raina got phased out and dhoni declined.

oh no they're gonna pick faulkner
Nah. Of these guys only Siddle and Khawaja are clearly not up to it. The rest have the potential to compete with some proper preparation and coaching. I back Finch to regain some form.

They're not desperate enough to go back to forkers and he's done nothing anyway

He's ran through the Perth top order tonight

This Australian ODI team is missing at least 5-6 first teamers TBF. And they missed a ridiculous number of opportunities in the field. Still, always good to win in Australia. :)
