I'm fine with the follow on. The bowlers have had enough rest with the rain and the spinners have done the bulk of the bowling anyway.

Yeah, not sure how anyone can have issue with the follow on. It was the right decision.

3 wickets by close of play will set up an interesting final day.

3-1 vs. 2-1 is not exactly something to be scoffed at, either. The extra win could well mean us keeping the No. 1 ranking for a few extra months, somewhere down the line. I'm still annoyed about us missing out on a Test win in NZ in 2009 because of a ridiculously conservative declaration.

Kuldeep  His scalps didn't actually look impressive, but he's got the figures on a dead pitch. I now hope he's a fixture in all our plans abroad because he's a genuine weapon as opposed to fat Ashwin.

Weather ruining our chance at our first win in the SCG. Congrats to Kuldeep though, youngest spinner to take a wicket in Australia.

FFS bad light. If Australia were serious about this series they'd have stayed on to chase the improbable win. Going off is just week and speaks volumes about the surrendered mindset of this team. Onya kohli for being Australian and always chasing a win.

I don't get why people think it's beneficial for India to bat on. There's not enough time for Australia to set a score that will realistically put India under pressure in a potential 4th innings, there's a very outside chance that if India batted again you'll see something like the Melbourne Test where Australia bowl India out cheaply enough to get a potentially chasable score, it's the last Test of the series so workload isn't as much of a factor and if India do bat on the chances of India running out of time to force a result is quite a bit higher.
I just want to pile on the misery on Australia

Umpires decision, not the players'.

There comes a time when you have to be pragmatic. There is no win to be achieved here, there is another series coming up, and batsmen are playing for their places. Nobody's going to chance their arm in a hopeless cause, especially knowing the selectors backstage aren't the kind to appreciate heroics/harakiri.

I thought umpires offered the light option to batsmen. Did that change?
As for pragmatism, duck that. If it was real Australia should cancel all tests until they pick a batsman who averages more than 30.

Probably about time the mystery about what is and isnt 'bad light' be taken away so everybody knows what the standard is. Just seems an archaic practice how it's done now.

Don't they use a light meter?
Yeah. Iirc if they go off at a certain reading they stick with that throughout the rest of the match.

Dharmasena in particular is really good at holding up the light meter and checking for readings. It's why the ICC overlooks his poor decision making.
