I can see a point to declaring tbh, Haze and Starc can get so easily brained or hit here and they've got the work to do.

Every series involving India against the non subcontinental sides turns out to be a nerve wracker. We might be also rans but damn if we don't give true VFM.

You haven't seen anything unless you've seen Dan Christian's live. That was cricket like you've never seen it before.

Clint McKay's too
steven finn’s in the first (real) match of the 2015 world cup was the only one i’ve seen live, and boy was it memorable

Someone said something about sending Pant out to open. Is that too ridiculous a notion? Openers are walking wickets, and Pant down the order isn't going to contribute much more than a quick 40-50. If he belts the shine off the ball and gives Vijay and Rahul some breathing room...unorthodox but might just come off?

Ed Cowan saying he looked at the pitch at lunch and the cracks had opened up a mile. Said if Kohli misses out India won’t make 100. I think Ed’s had a big lunch tbh

The most striking thing about this series so far has been the slow run rates, brought about by tight bowling, tough conditions, lack of confidence in playing attacking strokes, whatever it is, it is the slowest run rate for a series in Australia this century by far. Batsmen striking at 41.59. Next slowest 46.39 in 2000.

Ed did raise a good point though - if it’s dried out that much the heavy roller might open it up more

Follows an interesting trend with batting in Australia though. This series, the Ashes, and the SA series 16/17 all with slowish run rates, relatively speaking.

India's tactics for this last pair seem to have been to avoid bowling a good line and length, on a cracked pitch.
