He shouldn't be playing. His batting is just about okay and his keeping is terrible. If India want a keeper to open, get Dinesh Karthik in!

Should have picked Rayudu as the keeper tbh.

His keeping can't be worse than Parthiv's and is a much better batsman than him.

Karthik's keeping is poor too ,and was dropped for that reason after Srilanka.

Still have doubts about Kohli on such low paced,turning tracks with the ball hard to get away tbh.
He like Nohit prefers the ball to come on to him quicker.

Very interested to see how he does this tour if the pitches remain like this throughout the tour.
Raina is the one who i would back on such pitches.

Looking at Rohit's record, it seems that he's found the pacing of fifty over cricket hard to come to terms with even in domestic cricket. He has a tremendous First Class record, a tremendous T20 record and even a tremendous T20I record but his List A record is poor even if you take the ODIs out of it. He's struggled to find a balance in how to pace an innings in this format.

It's a shame from a personal perspective that 90% of the innings I've seen him play have been 50 over contests because he's terrible at them and he has such great wraps on the rest of his game.

He just throws his wicket away almost everytime once he get settled in ODI's.

He is a poor starter in all forms of the game and for the first about 10 balls looks dodgy and then gets settled.
In ODI's once he does that he does not seem to know what to do and after getting a start always seems to throw his Wicket away.
It's a mental thing,I think .In T20's after the initial period by default he has to attack and so does not have to think about it too much.

It is also interesting that for Dhawan it is entirely the opposite almost as he has a much better LIST A 50 over record than either T20 cricket or First Class matches.

Why is Parthiv opening? Honestly, what is the purpose? He offers neither consistency, nor a quick start. Best case scenario is a sedate 50.

Selected him for the South Africa series as the replacement opener for Gambhir even without being a keeper ahead of the likes of Mukund and Dhawan.

They have given him a free ride to get 30 at a strike rate of 71 despite looking like getting out every ball for half his innings. Hasn't even hit a boundary.

Wasn't a great knock by any means tbh.

Still he did not give it away (Though he was lucky to survive a Plumb LBW early on) which is a positive.

Yeah it was an average knock tbh. He batted like an absolute moron for the first part of his innings, was out plumb not given and was then nonsensically allowed to milk hopelessly unthreatening bowling around for singles with the field back until he was set.
