Australia will meet southafrica or pakistan in the WC.

However I feel australia might actually lose in the semis. But india...lol no way. not atleast the way they are playing right now.

Haven't we all been played for idiots by the WICB - those (and I think myself to be fair) who thought the WICB were bonkers for making Lara captain (again) until the next World Cup, and Sarwan should have got the nod, so what do the West Indies and Brian Lara do? Lead his team and bat consistently enough (going off the scorecard and I haven't seen this series so forgive if I am wrong about Lara's batting) to win the ODI series, although Lara and his men will need to back up for the Test series and perform there.

This is very strange, before the start of this series India had a fantastic record in Onedayers and were considered as fav's for WC , and now when they happen to have lost some matches (at some point the winning sequence had to come to an end) ppl are writing them off as if Indian team was of the calibre of Zimb team!!

And i think India recen't record against Pakistan shows that India are miles ahead of Pakistan in ODI.

another game, another loss and a bit more of dissapointment... should ganguly get another opportunity??
If he scores runs for his county in England, and India continue to fare poorly in onedayers, then i don't see how Ganguly would be kept away from the team. But i fear that his inclusion would only complicate things and might not be all the good for team India.

Whatever it takes!!!
congrats Windies. India looked totally out of it after that loss in the second ODI. All credit to Lara and King and their boys. Time for some serious soul searching for INdia. Pathan, Dhoni, Raina are three guys who did absolutely nothing in this series after having been so impressive over the past few months. Questions need to be raised about why Rao is still in the side.

Raina and Irfunk faired poorly, but i think Dhoni did a decent job, though not as great as he has been doing lately.

You are condemned to mediocrity with that attitude. This India team will NEVER win the world cup. Sreesanth is pedestrian at best - not even close to Nehra. There is no "order" to the batting-order. No one knows their place in the batting order or on the field - did you see all the misfields and dropped catches. Confusion is the watchword.

If you don't see the obvious disunity in the team you must be watching a different game. There is no spirit in this team - they may have won in the past but there is no "one for all all for one "attitude. None. Wait till they get creamed in the Tests
you are a great reader of this beauitful game :)

Huge series win for the Windies, and I couldn`t be happier. I love it when they play well, such a great bunch. And Dave! I think Lara`s captaincy has been spot-on this series, Hinds with the new-ball and bringing back Taylor for a his second-spell were pieces of gold. Up the Windies, you can win World Cup `07.

Dhoni has proven to be not so great off the subcontinent, only averaging 23 (which drops if you get rid of that not out) and we still haven't learnt much from India -- good on the subcontinent -- a poor team off it. The West Indies aren't a great side, an adequate one at best, and they only played average cricket which I think speaks volumes for the way the Indians played as India have a much better outfit than WI.

Yes, because being confused about batting at number three or four leads to misfields in the outfield.

Team India's attitude very disappointing

Team India's attitude very disappointing

It was a very disappointing last-match loss for India. The least everyone expected of the match was a decent fight from a team that was already down in the series.

What perhaps went against Team India was the wrong decision on the toss itself. Had I been the skipper, I would never have elected to field first. Having played on the track before, India should have realised that the wicket tends to slow down during the day. The ball was turning and India could have gone ahead, batted and put up a fighting total.

That said, it's important to understand that no team can succeed in a match if the top order fails to fire. If a batting side, considered to be one of world's strongest, fails to put up a winning show despite going out with seven batsmen, it just shows the lack of collective confidence.

What reflected poorly on Team India was the players' attitude on the field. The tiff between Ajit Agarkar and Harbhajan Singh was for all to see.

Dissent within the team undermines the confidence of the players. Whatever the argument was, it could have been sorted out later.

Talking about India's performance, Virender Sehwag played well, but did not get enough support on the other end. He could have made a significant difference had he been supported with a partnership. But his performance was commendable. He played within himself, played the ball late and did not go for silly shots.

The bowling lineup wasn't something to boast about. The inexperience of Sreesanth and Munaf Patel showed through. India seriously need to do some quick rethink on treating Sreesanth as their main strike bowler.

Riding high on a series win against a relatively weaker and depleted England side, India perhaps got a little too carried away. The performance of certain players, who did well in the series, got unnecessarily exaggerated. And, most of them did not live up to the initial hype.

Looking ahead, India have a tough task ahead in the upcoming Test series. They have an advantage too. Wasim Jaffer and V V S Laxman are back to add power to Indian batting. Sehwag is doing well too.

It's now up to coach Greg Chappell to boost the team's confidence. The series comes as an eye-opener for Indians and it needs to be realised that there are a lot of loose ends to be tied up, and fast.

This is indeed a superb effort form the windies to beat India in the ODI so convincingly. Lara's captaincy along with the overall standard of cricket played by each of the players was brilliant. Its easy to say that Windies are on the way up after beating India, but are they?

Over the past 5 years or so even though the West Indies have stuggled to beat most international sides either at home or away, India is one side that they have done well againts in both forms of the game. In 2002 the defeated India in the 5 match test series 2-1 and ran them close in a rain interrupted ODI series, then down in India the same year they lost the series but defeated India in a the ODI series 4-3. So for me to be sure that the men from the caribbean are truly on the way up will depend on how they perform againts major sides, since i won't be surprised if the Windies took the momentum gained from the ODI series win & win the test series as well.

O MY GOD. Just look at these same people who were all gung ho GO TEAM INDIA when they were on song...now look at this.

India played like they have been recently. West Indies just matched them pound per pound and didn't blink. Good job windies, but they are still far from being the windies of even ten years ago.

Test Lineups

India are likely to play five bowlers in the test matches. With Tendulkar out of the tour, both Laxman and Yuvraj can be accomodated in the middle-order without Dravid having to open. If the batsmen fail to fire, we could see the induction of Kaif or Raina in the place of a bowler.

Projected India XI
W Jaffer, V Sehwag, R Dravid*, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni+, I Pathan, A Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, S Sreesanth, M Patel

West Indies have a few options to consider when deciding the composition of their side. Edwards and Bradshaw are certainties, so the third seamer's role will go to either Taylor or Collymore. The final spot in the XI could go to the specialist batsman (Morton), the part-time spinner/batsman (Samuels) or the left-arm spinner (Mohammed).

Projected West Indies XI
C Gayle, D Ganga, R Sarwan, B Lara*, S Chanderpaul, D Bravo, D Ramdin+, I Bradshaw, D Mohammed, J Taylor, F Edwards

That West Indies XI looks pretty much right except i don't think Chanderpaul will be fit enough to play and the Windies will play Morton instead.
