It was luck that saved the first Test?

I thought it was India's inability to get West Indian tailenders out.

Agreed. It was our inability to let a partnership bat an entire session that caused the first test to be drawn. This test though, India are unlucky. But, thats part of the game unfortunatly.

Well in that case there is no such thing called luck. It is either the bowlers' inability to get wickets, or the fielders inability to hold a catch or batsmen's inability to score enough runs.

If there is anything else, then it is your Karma. :D

How were they lucky in the first test, India just couldnt get 20 wickets in time:P
they just barely hung on....and they were certainly lucky in the end not to lose a match they had dominated for most of the first three days.....

You can't blame the first test on bad luck necessarily, but it just feels like India have been so close to attaining success and just keep getting screwed at the last moment after being in a good position. If we don't win this series because of this rain, it won't top the Mumbai debacle, but it'll be annoying as hell.

Were they really lucky in getting a 130 run lead in the 1st game then?

I don't know where these people come from, saying that the WI were lucky in the first test.

They dominated the first couple days, and even though they got outplayed in the last two, their first couple days is what saved them this test. THats not luck, thats just outplaying your opponent for a large portion of the test. If you let your opponent do that, chances are, you aren't going to win.

If anything, India were the ones who were lucky, even coming so close to a win after being outplayed early.

The second test, however, remains to be seen. India have been on top literally from the first session, so we will see how that goes.

I don't believe in "luck" per se, but if we are to buy into that phenomenon, India would be mighty unlucky not to win this Test.

Silentstriker - Watch the game and then tell us If WI were not lucky. One good ball and they would have been looking @ 0-2. They didn't outplay us, we outplayed ourselves. WI were so bad that despite our pathetic bowling attack, they couldn't put decent score.

I've watched every single ball, and WI were not lucky. One WI pair batted out a whole session on the last day. That's not 'luck', thats our lack of a good bowling attack showing up. 'Luck' would have been if we had the bowling attack that WI had in the 80's, and WI just scraped through on bad calls and bad weather. The opposition taking advantage of our bowling weakness and batting through the session is good cricket on their part, not luck.

India sucking is not 'unlucky'. Thats what we did. Luck would be if we had played great and the WI pulled the draw out because of rain.

Here’s hoping the West Indian selectors do not drop Daren Ganga for the next test match, my financial state keeps on improving with every failure the young man has.
