Haha yeah I like 0RI0N too.

Btw, I hope you received a better idea/explanation of the situation from those two articles and Faisal1985 sharing his experiences as well.
I haven't read the articles yet; I bookmarked them for when I'm not eating noodles though. That's why I haven't replied to you yet.. I'm not that rude. :p

Wonder what people would have said about this pitch had this draw occurred on the subcontinent, BTW.

Meh, our spinner got a seven-fer, our fast bowlers were crap, their fast bowlers weren't.

Business as usual. I wouldn't have criticized it - no team got over 400 and had to work for their runs - and I tend to criticize pitches a lot.

Exam again tomorrow. Being broke means I'll have to make do with diet Coke instead of the usual red bull for the all-nighter and even that will not ensure I'll do well in Economics.

I hate and love you test kallisball. :(

Well after yesterday I am pleased and surprised that India managed to get the draw. Couldn't watch the game but I seriously expected SA to win and am baffled they only managed 3 wickets. This pitch has offered some lateral movement the whole game and by day 4/5 it also offered spin and variable bounce. What happened? Obviously India batted well but did SA bowl poorly? Did the pitch ease out that much?

Anyway at the end of day 2 in the first test I wrote that it would be a huge achievement if India managed to draw the series. I guess it's a measure of how well they played afterwards that I am a touch disappointed that they didn't get the win. Still I will take 1-1 and suspect most Indians fans will too.

I think a declaration could have made a difference if Steyn and Morkel had about 8-10 overs to go at India yesterday. For one thing India was completely deflated and that would have carried over into their batting. Steyn and Morkel would have just one spell to bowl and could go all out. India might have been tempted to go for the target which could cost them a few wickets. Finally the second new ball would have been a bigger deal if it had come earlier; for example say with India five down and 18 overs to go, I could easily see Steyn and Morkel blowing away the lower order.

Obviously in return for all that SA would have had to accept a bigger chance of losing the game and series. I am not surprised Smith didn't take the gamble and wouldn't blame him too much but certainly a bolder captain might have gone for it and perhaps won the game.

I could perhaps help you with that given I have an Economics degree. I'd rather just do your exam than teach you stuff though; get that arranged IMO. :p

This is a really good point. The fact many of us are disappointed (to varying degrees) in only drawing the series shows how far this team has come.

The only away from the subcontinent series in recent times in which I was similarly disappointed was Australia 03-04.

Haha, It's not with the understanding part that I have a problem with. l've already spent time learning the stuff, Just that I have full-portion pre-final tomorrow and I need to look through each and everything.

Thank god, I don't like ODI kallisball that much or Ima fail my finals.
