*Official* India in South Africa

Haha I don't know if that's a serious question or not. :p I mean there's not much to follow with cricket in Canada. But of course, I do check up the score for Canada when they play in the world cup, and am happy when they do well.

But as for other sports, such as the olympics (winter and summer), ice hockey, etc. I am a die hard Canadian fan. This includes being a die hard Toronto fan as well in the NHL, NBA, MLB, etc. Cricket is actually the only thing I cheer for India in, which is understandable. For everything else, I am Canadian to the bone. That includes hating on the US
Was a serious question. Canada do play a bit of cricket; I probably follow them more closely than you which is poor form tbh. :p

Indian bowlers took 20 wickets, while SA bowlers are struggling to get 15 in this test....what does that tell you?

Also, Gambhir should be given some credit for scoring a 50+ innings and giving India a good start in 3 of the 4 innings he has played. People were writing him and his 50+ average off as he is a "flat track bully". He has shown enough technique and grit here to prove that he can handle any kind of bowling on any kind of track. It's a shame he is made of glass though...

 Why ? South Africa I can understand because we have never won a test series there, but why England ? India have won three (?) test series there.
England will probably be no. 2 in the rankings when that series happens. If we win there, there would be no doubts about our no. 1 position and it would be the pinnacle of our period at the top. Taking into account a reasonable corollary that we won't lose test series to lower ranked sides over the next year and a half, that would mean that we would maintain our no.1 ranking for at least two more years.

Fair enough.

Match drawn :)

Well done India. At 0-1 down and 5-130 in the first innings in Durban I'd have taken a 1-1 series draw any day of the week.

I still think we were in a real shot of winning this series, and I'll always be disappointed that we didn't win this third test. But when the dust settles, 1-1 is a very very good result.

Okay I'm tired and have barely slept the last 5 days. I'm gong to hit the sack.

Enjoy this moment Indian fans. This is one of the best Indian achievements in recent times. Even if it could have been greater :p

Yes but the scenarios I'm giving you, losing this series isn't one of them. So it doesn't matter about where this match is at.

Normally I'd have said draw and WC win.

But the excitement I had yesterday when it looked like we could win was possibly the most excited I've been in a long time as a cricket fan.

Not sure if a WC win would reach the heights I imagine I'd have felt if we won.

Think I'd trade WC for a series win here. This isn't me being a test elitist snob. I just really wanted to win in SA.
You can have every one day match from now until the end of time if it means a series win in SA or Aus.

Hahaha, Zaheer and Steyn are shaking hands and smiling at each other.
I read, in this thread actually I think, that they're great friends off the field but fierce competitors on it. I can definitely see it; I have a good friend who plays for West Pennant Hills and I give him so much **** when we play against each other.

Yeah, I just compared park kallisball to Tests. Deal with it.

Haha no I'm sure they do. But I really cbf following them tbh. I mean I just feel there is no incentive to do so, I know with the way cricket is set up here in Canada, it will never gain popularity outside the minority crowd. I've played cricket in the Toronto and District League, which is the largest cricket league in North America and supplies Canada with about 75 percent of the players in the national team, and have played with/against most of the players in the Canadian team at some point or another, in both official and exhibition matches. And with the way it's set up, I strongly believe it won't ever gain enough popularity in the US or Canada for them to field their strongest national team. And until it doesn't become a mainstream sport in North America, and Canada fields their strongest team, I won't have enough interest to follow it religiously.

A very good result for India. I would have taken a draw at the start of the series, let alone after the first test. India have justified their ranking for the time being at least.
