*Official* India in South Africa

Does South Africa seriously not have any other openers better than Peterson? I can't believe that looking at the rest of their batsmen. Their only real weak spots is Peterson and their spin options.
Well, this series Petersen is batting better than his captain.
Smith has averaged 28 for the series so far, and Petersen 37. In this series, only Kallis, Amla, Dhoni, deVilliers and Sachin are averaging more than him.

His Test average is 35 so far, and he's only played eight Tests. He deserves a run.

65-6 when he went in actually but thanks for actually elaborating.

It was on a road against NZ, in India.

Broad's was from 102-7, which is little better, but it was on a tough pitch with a decent bit of movement, against Amir, Asif, Riaz and Ajmal. He went on to get 169.

And if anyone brings up the spot fixing you can go **** yourself. Spot fixing takes nothing away from the knock AFAIC.
Mate, Martin was in the middle of bowling the spell of the year.

His knock was good. Fine say Broad's was better, but stop discarding Harbhajan's like it was easy. The pressure would have been enormous.

Broad's 169 was easily better. Harby also did very well to get two back to back tons. Both are good value down the order.

Only difference being Harby's bowling has largely been ****. I don't want him to score 100s to make up for conceding 100s back. We lose so much with him not bowling well in a 4-man attack with two other inconsistent bowlers, even if he hits tons all the time.

I think something went missing in translation. I said that Harris would be picked ahead of Harbhajan, not that he's better. Harbhajan is better, but not by the volume Indian fans suggest. He's a wholey average spinner who has probably bowled his team to victory minimal times since the 2001 series.

On his batting, there's a forum for the worst players to score a test hundred, put him next to Jerome Taylor.

Martin was the only bowler, was he supposed to bowl 63 overs that day ?

Harbajahn has actually won a lot of games and is criminally underrated on these forums yeah he's no Murali but 400 wickets @ 31's is not to be scoffed at.

Had a look at the record away from home lately ? That's why he's underrated, because he's under talented. He's like the flat track bully of bowlers

To be honest, I've seen Zaheer bowl spells looking as dangerous at 127kmh as he has at 134, he's a smart bowler who bowls to the conditions.

Sarcasm in text doesn't work dood

Sreesanth looking like he's bowling better line and shape here, despite that boundary.... and as I speak a wide pie down the leg side...
Reminds me of Wasim Akram at times.

bowler having a worse record in conditions less helpful and alien to him what a shock8-)

Not quite sure how you can say 169 in the first innings of a Test match after being 102/7 isn't important
Without it we would've lost, badly.
Wasn't the first time Broad has made runs either.

Broad has 6 50+ scores in 46 innings and Bhaji has 10 in 128, so to suggest one has done it before while the other hasn't is st00pid.
I never said Broad hadn't made runs before that, nor did I say that it wasn't an important innings. Heck, I didn't even say that Harbhajan overall was a better batsman that Stuart Broad. I only said it might have to be taken with a grain of salt - it is a bit easier to score runs when the other team is trying to lose. If you want to get your knickers in a twist over it - great, I couldn't care less. I can see you are itching to incite an argument, try someone else.

Even if you take that into account.
Still it was 2 innings plus several other vital contributions versus 1 innings.
As Marcus just said, Broad has 6 50+ scores in 46 innings and Bhaji has 10 in 128, so you cannot say that Bhajji has had several other contributions and Broad none, its not true.

All I was arguing was that Broad's was better, wasn't discarding Bhajji's, was simply stating that it was against a worse attack, on an easier surface, only in a marginally better situation. Harbhajan's 100s were fabulous aswell - the second one was a superb attacking innings to further demoralise an already demoralised attack - but I thought Broad's was better, that is all.

I thought we were talking about 2010 though.

Harbhajan's batting has improve considerably the last 2 years.

No mirrors in your house ? I am looking at the full picture. Not only does he have a worse record in unhelpful conditions, but he's wholey average. You can't simply pick and chose what surfaces to bowl on, the mark of a good player is to learn to bowl better in those conditions. On Kumble's first trip to Australia he struggled. Next trip he bowled wonderfully well and was rewarded.
