But someone who ducks perhaps could have.
No, they couldn't. The ball wasn't on such a short length that you'd expect to be able to duck it. By the time you realized the ball was just rearing up and started ducking, it'd hit you in the throat or head.

On watching it through hawkeye and replays again, you are actually right specially with some keeping just a tad low too.
