I've been whining about this for so long in the Indian Domestic Season threads. Apparently he doesn't have too much pace, but seriously that domestic average is awesome.
Same with Joginder Sharma. That idiot just doesn't make runs when it counts, otherwise he'd be a sure-fire contender.
As much as I want some pace from Indian bowlers, thats only because they don't have control. If you have control, you can be very successful at the test level, and simple lack of pace shouldn't be a hinderence (unless they lack in control as well, like our current crop).

Exactly. As for the pace issue, that's only what I've heard - never had the chance to watch him bowl.
Even then, I'm pretty sure "lack of pace" means low 130s or so. Those Punjabi pacemen can't possibly be sub-130, far too strong IMO.

Sreesanth isn't as bad as Pathan with the old ball imo so there could have been a trade.
My main point is I don`t think Pathan should be in the team, and could do with some domestic matches. Sreesanth will generally offer economy and key wickets with the new-ball, where Pathan might make a few blows, maybe, maybe, and will probably leak runs.

I like Sreesanth. :p

I`ll shut-up about him soon, maybe, but I`d bring Sreesanth back alongside Kumble to really peg South Africa down. Or maybe Khan.

Pahtan can guarantee you at least 1-2 wickets in his first spell if he is given the new ball. Pathan shouldn't be in the team if he wont use the new ball. With the new ball he is a gun and has a more accurate line and length and more swing.

That makes them about twice as fast as Pathan right off the bat. Bring them on.

What would you rather?

EDIT: Not saying that`s anything like conclusive evidence, just an example of what I believe would happen most of the time. :)

SA's openers out for ducks. Smith really is struggling just now - and why is Bosman in the team when you've got Gibbs or AB who can open. Drop Bosman, promote Gibbs or AB or recall Dippenaar to open. India's own problems are disguising SA's top order weaknesses.

Is it just me, or VVS on the field, fielding. I'm disappointed he didn't get selected to play in this match

So how exactly did he end up with a bowling average of 23 in 2006 despite the rubbish of the past several months?
Pathan was brilliant with the new ball until he landed in West Indies - a poor man's Bracken if you will.

Cmon India. Lets win this one. Ive got tickets for the 5th ODI and Id like to not to be a dead rubber by then.

I do not agree with the captain to bring him self on instead of Sachin who hasn't been bad in the last two games.

Sachin, is the man. You never know what he is going to bowl. An off spin, a leg break, outswing inswing the man can do it all, and he picks up Kemp first ball with a leg break. 155-6
