I think you guys are being really harsh on Mongia. He has been very good since his return. In the three matches so far since his return

Vs Aus 63* & 9-0-43-1 (Symonds) Aus made 213.
Vs Aus 18 & 9-0-36-1 (Watson) Aus made 252 in 45.4 overs
Vs SAF 1 & 4-0-16-1 (De Villiers) SAF made 248

His batting has been decent and bowling very good. He has been picked as an allrounder and has done the job appreciably so far imo keeping in mind the opposition was the toughest he could have faced (SAF at home & Aussies anywhere).

Raina i agree needs to be dropped. He got his chances higher up the order in WI but didn't capitalise on it.

Kaif i think needs to be given few more chances higher up the order. The guy mostly used to come at 6 & 7 in the slog overs even though his game doesn't suit. Even in the tests, after a good performance against Aus and Eng at home he was dropped. He deserves a fair run at the top order. I really hope he comes through it.

Wasim Jaffer - Pathetic decision to select in onedayers. With this failure, it has put unnecessary pressure on him for the tests where he otherwise would have been a certainty after a good tour of WI.

For the next onedayer, i would drop Jaffer and bring in Sehwag/Kaarthick if sehwag's not fit. Then drop Raina and bring in Pathan. At the moment, Pathan seems to be a much better bat to me than Raina and add Pathan's bowling to it.

I too find it a bit disturbing that you guys are being so harsh on Dinesh Mongia. Sure he's not the greatest talent around and Badrinath has been playing pretty well but he still deserves a decent run, he has performed reasonably well with his bowling and although his batting hasn't been that flash apart from in the DLF Cup he deserves the selectors having some confidence in him.

Shouldn't it be "subtract" Pathan's bowling? And subtract his fielding too (compared to Raina).

But really, Raina has gotten too many chances. Time for him to go back.

I didn't really mean he should be dropped right now. Just fun to bash 'em around a little after that capitulation the other day.

Okay I know this is late, but I was in Mumbai and didn't have too much time to go on the internet. India's batting was pathetic!!!! Okay I'm done on that match.

As far as the match today goes, Munaf Patel is out so thats a huge blow for India. Hopefully his replacment will be Anil Kumble. Was pretty upset he missed out in the 2nd ODI, even though he had the best figures in the Warm up game. Hoping Zaheer gets another go I liked his bowling in the 2nd ODI despite him going for a lot of runs.

Actually, Munaf going out might be a good thing. Pathan will replace him and that means that we can afford to play five bowlers, which creates an opening for Kumble.

No Raina, Karthik comes in for him. I'm happy with that move. Kumble comes in for Mongia so India are going with 5 bowlers and 7 batsman(Pathan being the 7th.)

AB de Villiers is developing quickly as an ODI batsman now that the selectors have decided to bat him around #5 which I think is suited for him to manipulate the open field settings and turn singles into two's. Dippenaar has really fallen out of favour after failing in the Champions Trophy but Loots Bosman will need to score some runs against quality opposition to try and cement his place.

I really hope Karthik keeps. He's the best glovesman in India right now by a fair margin. Dhoni also has issues keeping to Kumble and we can't afford any let-ups today.

Says on cricinfo that Karthik is being played as a specialist batsman but it wouldn't suprise me if Dhoni hands the gloves over at some stage to give the youngster a chance to impress. Should hopefully be a more interesting game than the last one though.

On the review show, that came on in place of the Ashes(Stupid ESPN-Star Sports...Die!) they said that Karthik is coming in as a batsman. So he might not keep, however I wouldn't be surprised if they switch keepers during play.

Zaheer Khan gets India of to a great start, two big wickets right there. I'm willing to put a lazy $5 on Herschelle Gibbs being bowled at some stage in this game.

Agarkar is getting some serious swing. Should have been Pathan with the new ball I believe. He can swing the ball too.

Zaheer really looks quality today. As I speak, Agarkar gets owned by Gibbs again.
16 runs off the last over, all by Gibbs...8 runs off the over before all by Gibbs. If Agarkar gets another over, Dravid has gone crazy.
