***Official*** India in South Africa

Cracking catch that from AB to get rid of Sehwag. South Africa did well to reach 328 considering the start but this pitch is nothing like it is being made out to be, moisture/dampness has all but gone and it is flattening out nicely. Easily the best wicket India have come across in South Africa and it will only get better as the day progresses, SA should have got at least 400.

If the Indians can see of the new ball or if Dravid can hang around then they should make some hay this afternoon.

:p Great minds think alike.
Indeed. I really should learn to construct my posts in a more timely fashion - every time I submit one there's already around five or six new ones waiting for me, they quite often contain my exact points and make me look like an idiot or coat-tail-rider.

But its not like Jaffer is in great nick anyway...so I'm not sure what you can do.
Well in what was a fairly large touring party, India only picked one spare batsman and it was Gambhir. If Jaffer and Sehwag both fail twice in this match, you'd think you'd like to drop both of them for the next - but it's not really possible unless you play two wicket keepers and open the batting with Karthik which is very unlikely.

Over/Under for the Indian innings set at 315. I hope they get more, but if they don't, at least it will be competitive and will depend on second innings bowling.

Barry Richards says that Sehwag should be promoted down the order in South Africa itself, but is it really worth sacrificing Dravid as an opener?

I know his record there isn't very good, but I actually don't see any reason why Dravid couldn't be as successful opening as he is at #3.

No...either use a makeshift opener or use Gambhir and move one player out of the middle order.

Gautam Gambhir is not known for making runs of any note or hanging around for long periods (in the international game), his India's answer to Imran Farhat. Dravid has experience opening the innings and its not like India do not have a qualified middle order, if it was Kaif, Raina to follow then maybe but if you don't have faith in Sachin or Laxman then when will you have?

Also Dravid out LBW...

I mean bad decisions are part of the game, but there have been four horrible decisions, all against India.

And this one, for Dravid, hurts the most.
