Yup, this is a deserved innings, not like the one in Jo burgadharcric said:Well done Prince. He got plenty of luck along the way, but he fought hard.
Caught at slip and it was amazing.honestbharani said:how good was that catch and how did Prince get out?
Decent catch, the ball wasn't too good though...honestbharani said:how good was that catch and how did Prince get out?
Of course. And I never said you should pick the most experienced player. But whoever you pick has to have some experience IMO. I posted a list of successes and failures of players who played before 20, and as you can see, there are a lot more failures than successes. It is especially sad because those are your best young talents, and for so few to bear fruition means there might need to be a change in attitude or process.adharcric said:1. The selectors have greater access to these players than any of us do. They actually watch them in action before making a judgment, while we merely go by records and speculate. As Prince EWS mentioned earlier, first-class success does not always translate into test success and some players are ready earlier than others. The selectors are responsible for making this call.
Yes, obviously.adharcric said:Please cut out your "test cap is not a cheap gift" attitude - all that matters is the future of Indian cricket.
And watch every half chance given out for us. Would be just our luck too.adharcric said:The bull**** umpiring continues. Seriously, our boys have done well to keep it to 300 with all this rubbish.
They don't need to have experience if they've only been called up to get some exposure.silentstriker said:Of course. And I never said you should pick the most experienced player. But whoever you pick has to have some experience IMO.
That list of past failures and successes isn't as significant as it seems. Perhaps the selectors from the past may have forgotten about young prospects who failed, but the current crop don't need to do that. As long as you continue to consider one-time failures, giving them a shot early on isn't such a bad thing. Of course, it's better if you let them develop before asking them to win matches. That list doesn't mean too much though.silentstriker said:I posted a list of successes and failures of players who played before 20, and as you can see, there are a lot more failures than successes.
