You must be mad, I'd have an SA win at about 5% at the momentsilentstriker said:That's the day. 70% chance of India win, 30% chance of SA win.
You forget, I'm a cynical perssimistic bastard. I have no faith in Indian bowling.Langeveldt said:You must be mad, I'd have an SA win at about 5% at the moment
He may in fact turn out to be a very average bowler. However, he did bowl above average. With that said, SA do have to take a lot of the blame for some of the shots they played, as well as some of the lengths that they've bowled.haroon510 said:really dissappointing performance from Sa top order. u seee average bowler like Sreesanth is geting thier wickets. if they continue thier bad performance Pakistan would beat Sa 3-0 in test series in pressance of asif and shoiab.
But yes, Asif and Akhtar are clearly much better and SA would need to improve significantly or they'll lose at home.haroon510 said:really dissappointing performance from Sa top order. u seee average bowler like Sreesanth is geting thier wickets. if they continue thier bad performance Pakistan would beat Sa 3-0 in test series in pressance of asif and shoiab.
He's from the south, and there is a large Christian population there, but I believe he is Hindu.BoyBrumby said:2) Sreesanth enthusiastically crosssing himself. I presume he's Catholic?; &
Interesting if so. Thought that was a solely Catholic superstition. Would it have any significance to Hindus?silentstriker said:He's from the south, and there is a large Christian population there, but I believe he is Hindu.
Why would he cross himself then?silentstriker said:He's from the south, and there is a large Christian population there, but I believe he is Hindu.
I've never seen Hindu's do it in the part of India where I grew up. But South India is quite different, and there is a lot of Christian influence there...and Hinduism is also a very varied religion so I am not sure what meaning it holds for him and his particular sect. But I am fairly sure he is not Christian. I'm not a religious guy, so someone who knows more might be able to clarify (or I might be wrong and he might be Christian, but I doubt it).BoyBrumby said:Interesting if so. Yeah it could be anything... he might even have unofficially adopted the Catholic religion.BoyBrumby said:Could just be something as simple as him seeing someone like Ronaldinho do it & thought it looked cool.
I am interested to know if he is Catholic now tho.
Yeah read about that in TWC, funny stuffsilentstriker said:Something more interesting to me is that he was a national break dancing champion when he was in the 8th grade. That either shows how good of a dancer he is, or how dire the break dancing competition in India is.![]()
I once saw one on TV when I was still in Pakistan. It was quite impressive actually.silentstriker said:Something more interesting to me is that he was a national break dancing champion when he was in the 8th grade. You'll have to forgive my ignorance, but I presume a "Gurvayoorappan devotee" would be Hindu then?silentstriker said:This implies he is Hindu (a bit down the page).
Yea. One of the many thousands of Gods. That actually shows that he's from the south.BoyBrumby said:You'll have to forgive my ignorance, but I presume a "Gurvayoorappan devotee" would be Hindu then?
Possibly. But like I said, there is a strong Christian influence in the South, and its quite possible that Catholocism has some influence.BoyBrumby said:The writer does mention seeing "Sreesanth going through a silent prayer each time he begins his run up." Maybe his crossing just evolved from that.
not exactly...guruvayoor is a very famous hindu temple in kerala where he hails from and guruvayoorappan(the presiding deity in the temple, so to speak) is lord vishnu of the holy hindu trinity of brahma(creator), vishnu(preserver), and shiva(destroyer)...the name shanthakumaran sreesanth is a typical hindu name...kerala is the state that has the highest % of christian population in india so he might have got that gesture from christian friends or something or maybe he is the product of a mixed marriage, not sure about that...silentstriker said:Yea.
