 Are you insane? Better new ball bowlers: Lee, McGrath, Bond, Vaas, Ntini, Pollock.....and about 15 others.
I was specifically talking about ODIs and he is in fact one of the best new-ball bowlers in ODIs on form. Just look at his record in the year or so before the West Indies disaster.

In tests, he is a useful new-ball bowler on form but that's a very rare thing.

55.6 de Wet to Ganguly, FOUR, Excellent straight drive past the bowler and the fielder at mid off

Ganguly looking solid out there. Only wish this match was on TV.

I might get laughed at here, but isn't Munaf Patel a better option to start the bowling than Pathan.
Munaf doesn't really swing the new ball much. He'll get a little swing here and there and get wickets by bowling the right line and getting awkward bounce, but he doesn't really use the shine. He's very good with the old-ball though.

On form, he's India's best new-ball bowler and one of the best in the world. The only reason he's got potential is because he can swing the new ball and bat well in the lower-order.

WHA??

McGrath, Lee, Bond, Pollock, Vaas, Ntini, Bracken, Edwards, Asif, Akhtar, Rana Naved are all better than Pathan

Johnny Come Lately or are you just emulating me? I posted a list about three posts ago.

Dravid

International Captain
Ganguly has now reached the highest score by an Indian batsman on this current tour. He's beaten Rahul Dravid's 79 in the warm-up one-day at Benoni

Welcome to the team Dada. I was a little on the backfoot about him coming into the team, but I'm happy he is proving me wrong.

Not Edwards or Naved. Again, I'm talking about how he bowled from last summer to this summer.

I started the post, put my cheese and bacon filled potato skins in the oven, and then carried on with the post.

Still think he should be given the new ball in the series., use him until the 13 14 over, then just wait until the 80th over to bowl him again.

If you're going to do that, might as well not bother picking him.
