If you read through the thread, people are complaining about Ishant’s omission. I can’t understand the Rahane omission myself. No one is complaining about Ishant. The complaints are about Rahane, Umesh and to an extent Rahul. India should have played 6 batsmen with an attack of Bhuvi-Shami-Umesh-Ashwin.
I’m not saying he’s a bad bowler and his bowling average of 37 for 2017 probably doesn’t tell the whole story, it doesn’t strike me as a shocking decision to leave him out, a tad contentious at best. Is he that much better than the guys out there? Not in my opinion.Ishant's been bowling very well for about 2 years now.
Throat ball..... but I suppose you need to get the ball at the throat. Why does the gully exist? It's only purpose is to be in the sentence "the edge went flying through between slip and gully"
Very hand on pitches with bounce in it, for a variety of shots. Not sure India's bowlers are the sort to produce those kinds of dismissals though, they're all quite skiddy with the possible exception of Bumrah (and he's not bowling well enough for it to matter). Why does the gully exist? Still plenty in this pitch.
There is plenty still happening in this pitch to keep India interested. I’m surprised they’ve not started this session with Bhuvi, he was their most threatening bowler in the first session, but both bowlers have started well here.I don't think the pitch has changed that much... ball a touch older, secondary bowlers not that great.
they shouldn'twhy do they lose a review if it was a no ball?
This is where that extra yard of pace and bounce becomes important. Never 'in' on this pitch but need to be able to unsettle the good batsmen that get settled.... don't see any of that from Indian bowlers yet. There is plenty still happening in this pitch to keep India interested. Which is exactly why dropping Umesh was an idiotic call. He seems quicker than he actually is and hurries batsmen at times. This is where that extra yard of pace and bounce becomes important. Stating the obvious, still only 120 odd runs, but anything over 200 with the SA attack is competitive, over 250 pushing 300 becomes problems for India... 350 is well....
ParraPedestrian fielding effort that. Saw better stuff from an U15s side a couple of days back.
