Mills in for Milne. Again, don't like the balance of our bowling attack with Southee, Mitch and Mills all playing. Realistically, Southee should probably bowl first change as he's the most capable of the three of keeping it tight. However, if the ball is swinging he's also a major weapon so it's tough.

Richardson overlooked for limited overs cricket

Watling failed as an opening batsmen. Sure it was a small sample size, but he looked all at sea. As a lower middle order batsman is a completely different story though.

The only other decent candidate to open the batting is Williamson. However Williamson's best position is 3 and hes also by and large the best number 3 we have. The thought of Taylor pushed up to 3 makes me really uncomfortable and i cant see baz moving up the order.

I am really keen to see Munro in the side, just not if it means shunting someone up to open. Neesham isn't top 7 material yet, Rutherford was even worse than Guptill and Papps will no better either.

Not one person on that list would average 38, even with regular series against Zimbabwe opening the batting, or give enough of an advantage in the middle order to offset someone else losing out by opening
Sorry, with Richardson it should have read that he was overlooked even from domestic limited overs cricket, meaning he had very few and far between opportunities to actually bat outside of test matches and first class which in this country, is highly sporadic.

McCullum averages 39 at a higher strike rate in the #2 spot - has also averaged 37 in all positions as a captain but I agree, I'd rather see Williamson bat at 2, Taylor at 3 - they're our consolidation players who should look to play at least thirty overs per innings and allow our hitters in the order to go out further.

Rutherford, jury is out, he hasn't had enough opportunities and is also very young and in the early days of his career, something Guptill isn't. He's not my first selection there though. I'd select either Watling, Mitchell or Munro.

Annnnd recency of performance suggests they'd only need to average 33 at a strike rate of 75 and a higher median than 7.5 to be a better player for us.

Really enjoyed the last ODI - good pitch with par score of high 200s rather than a complete road, some top batting, bowling and fielding, and a close result. Hoping for more of the same today.

Just hope the forecasted rain doesn't allow the Duckworth Lewis method to make a mockery of a chase total. NZ should have that in mind during their innings.

Interesting to hear the groundsman thinks the wicket will get faster and not slower as the match goes on. An attempt to bluff the Indian camp perhaps.

The forecast only says a few showers now. And if they're anything like the ones up here today, they'll have been and gone by the time the players make it off the field.

Gonna give the Alternative Commentary Collective a go. I do love Jeremy Wells and hopefully it's better than test match sofa.

Yeah, sounds like a strong lineup. Definitely planning to try it out when I can.
