***Official*** India in England 2014

Yeah, way too many people behaving as if England have won this series.

They are still perfectly capable of collapsing horribly again at the Oval.

tbf there are positives and negatives for India to take out of the tour - in broad strokes, the bowling attack has performed well and Ishant has looked like he might yet be the man to lead the attack for years to come. But, the batting has largely been a major disappointment and has highlighted major flaws with players like Dhawan and Kohli in the longer forms of the game

But realistically, with the amount of resources at their disposal, India simply should not be this **** a test side. It is very much starting to look like the IPL is becoming indredibly detrimental to the Indian test side, in more ways than one

How exactly are India going to turn this round? They've won one test where they played at their absolute best and England truly were at their absolute worst

England will win and probably do it very comfortably.

I do think that for a team made up with such inexperience, it was an okay job. The SA series raised expectations too much i think.

The last two games have been far from ok. OT at least wouldn't be even if they were all on debut.

I remember India winning lots of tests in England before the IPL was created. Wait no I don't.

Wouldn't blame the IPL. Would blame a broken Ranji structure, over intense schedule, overall poor selectors, domineering administrators, and the garbage media for this mess.

It really wasn't all that long ago that India won a test series pretty convincingly in England. And when was the last time that England won a test series in India before we did it a couple of years ago?

OK India's record away from home has never been amazing but the point still stands - with the resources at their disposal they should be a much better side than they are

India were ****ter in 2011. Our batting was Dravid, Tendulkar, Laxman, Sehwag and Dhoni in that series. Can't blame IPL for that.

I was there as well. Good bowling but blimey I think the Indian players are too spoilt and too rich. Dhoni earned 26 Million Pounds last year; was in top 15 of Forbes sports rich list and earned more money than Rooney and Bolt. Thats part of the problem they are all stupidly rich through adverts, sponsorships and IPL.

I have no doubt Rahane and Pujara will be top quality test players as their record suggests, however Kohli is in danger of being labelled as a All time great ODI player but not cutting it in tests (appreciating the facts he hasnt played many tests, i think he will come good just going through bad patch). Kohli is 25 though, but I fear his head has been turned by Bollywood (like Yuvraj Singh in recent years) and is also dating a famous Bollywood actress (his good looks might end up being a curse lol!).

At the moment it looks like India are thinking bring on the ODI series . Without Ishant Sharma there is no chance it will be 2-2.

England have dominated last 2 matches and played great fully deserved, all signs point to 3-1 now. India need to fix up !

They probably were ****ter in 2011 but Dravid and Dhoni aside, all of those players were very much on the downward slide in that series and that England side were approaching the peak of their powers. And as I say, the series before that (with largely the same team), India romped to a 3-1 (I think?) victory in England.

I'm not saying the blame lies entirely with the IPL but it seems pretty clear to me that India are really struggling to produce genuine test quality players at the moment.

They were not on the 'downward slide' at all. They had just reached #1 and pretty much all of them had scored heavily in the few years before that tour. Focusing too much on the WC and then cbfing with cricket for a pretty long time (tour of WI) is what ****ed the batsmen over imo.

They definitely didn't win 3-1 here. It was 1-0.

Well if those players were good in the lead up to that series, Sehwag, Tendulkar, Laxman were not the same players during it or after so perhaps the downward slide started in that series.

Regardless, it doesn't have any bearing on the point that I'm making - India should absolutely be a lot ****ing better than they are and it seems to clear to me that they are really struggling to produce a top quality test side, despite all the money, resource, power and vast amount of competition due to the huge amount of participation in the country

No chickens being counted here, think the last test will be a draw as the 2 pitches they will prepare will be a road and a spicy one so will play on the road. Can see it being a real snoozefest draw with 600 plays 500.
