Man, is there anything worse when you're fielding than bulk low order runs? ****s you to tears.

This test is a great advert for having a ball tearing quick who scares tail enders out or hurts them before they do you damage.

Or a response to the "Nathan Lyon only takes tailend wickets" crowd.

If one assumes these first 4 days to be the way this entire series is played, I think this might just be the ****tiest series of all time.
Two ultra defensive captains who have no clue how to create something in trying circumstances, neither side has an amazing spin bowler to make something out of a pitch that does nothing and neither side has the type of dynamism in it to chase a victory by setting a quick aggressive target.
You almost get the feeling that both teams are competing for the title of "worst test side"
If there's a winner of this match they get there on the back of a 10th wicket partnership that outscored most of the specialist batsmen.

I'm amazed that there's a crowd, tbh.
On behalf of England and India I say.......**** you all.

**** wicket makes for **** cricket. But there is still a day left in the test with (albeit a long shot) all 3 results still on the table.

Well played by Root and Anderson! Reminded me of 2011. Every single time in 2011 I would imagine a worst case scenario before going to bed and when I woke up the situation was even worse. Same here. Just felt happy I wasn't awake watching.

That shot from Pujara to get out was just ridiculous. Hopefully it doesn't come back to bite us in the ass.

India doing their bit for 'worst Test side'. They're not even picking a full XI, with three of their XI not good enough to be out there.

While my opinion of Ishant and Binny is echoed by many here, this column by Martin Crowe echoes what I have to say about India's spin selection. This is not India's best bowling attack, in pace or spin.

Is Ashwin really a good player overseas? Or is it just conjecture that he'd do better than Binny now that we know Binny isn't that good? (Not implying that I thought he was ever good).

To be honest even a real quick would have trouble on this track. Shockingly bad. When the new ball on day 1 is bouncing twice on it's way to the keeper then you know it bad.

So I know Ali Cook is struggling right now, but I had no idea it was this bad.........poor bloke doesn't even know which way to face now.

Yep, either that or a spinner who's hard to read out of the hand.

Was filthy posting in general, but coming from those who watched every ball of West Indies v New Zealand it's particularly baseless drivel. Neither of those teams would come to England or India with much of a shot.

Anyone with a bowling attack would give current England a fright tbh. The batting just has no confidence in itself. Dhammika ****ing Prasad won a test for his team there.

Touring India is a very difficult kettle of fish because Ashwin and Jadeja suddenly become hand grenade bowlers.

I think NZ has quite a good chance to beat this English side in England. England are just so so bad atm. India are shockingly bad overseas but I'd never question their strength at home.

It's my opinion that there was a higher quality of cricket in the Windies tests. Better pitches, better umpiring, better batting, better bowling (although I think both England and India have bowled ok on this pitch).

I'm excited for this series because guys like Kohli, Anderson, Pujara, Broad, Shami etc are high quality players. We just haven't seen a high quality of cricket yet, partly due to the pitch and partly due to poor play.

I personally think New Zealand would beat us at present, the hope is that our new players learn quickly enough that when we meet next year we have improved enough to beat them. Would help if they weren't playing on crap pitches though. Be another snoozefest next week at Lord's.

This is a dog of a surface and I can't blame either side for the dog of a show that has been put on. Lets just hope some sense prevails and the curators for the next 4 tests give us something that resembles a decent test strip.......let's be honest these are two mediocre teams that should be reasonably well matched for this contest.

No way will there be **** pitches all series. We'll get to see a good game. It's not like these teams are filled with crap players either.
