It's all right that they are giving out opportunities to the other fast bowlers. I would have preferred Pankaj to stay, however.

Wish they get Gambhir, and not Pujara to open.

If Pujara is made to open, my temple will explode. He's more like Dravid than anyone realised. Gun No.3 who plays the ball really late, plays long periods, and made to open the batting when not in form/regular openers too inept.

I think India should stick with Dhawan for the time being.. there is something about him that I like...although I don't see him performing consistently on overseas tours but neither did Sehwag or Gambhir.

Bowling is a bit of a problem now with Ishant and Bhuvi potentially out. Varun Aaron was pretty crap when I saw him at the Asia Cup this year..not sure if he has improved since then.

Shami is a good bowler. I like this guy though he hasn't picked up the wickets so far.

I kinda agree about Dhawan. I'm a Gambhir fan... the guy has made tough runs for us on multiple occasions, but going back to him doesn't seem like the proper way forward. I'd maybe stick with Dhawan till the end of this series before dumping him.

Shami has been a massive disappointment... he's just been too wayward and leaked runs. Could learn a thing or two from Bhuvi by keeping it simple.

Hmmm, Dhawan was bloody good in NZ. Harsh dropping after just 3 poor tests. Fine with it if he is being replaced for team balance but that doesn't seem to be the case really if Gambhir is in contention.

It was not just the 3 tests for Dhawan though. He struggled before the NZ tour and has looked horrible this tour. Actually he has had three innings of note in his career till now and considering the poor starts India has got it was high time for a change.

Gambhir shouldn't have been in the squad to begin with tho tbh. If they wanted a third opener to replace Dhawan they should have gone for someone younger with more of a future (Mukund?)

Picking Gambhir in the squad and now playing him is such short-sighted viewing. This isn't the WC or a series India needs to win to move to number 1 or smth. Its a young squad on their first tour to england. A loss is acceptable. Let the players grow.

Yeah fair enough. Dropping Dhawan isn't a criminal selection. Just saying I'd prefer he got the series.

The fact he was a good bloke to me at Wellington airport when I met him this year may be a factor in that view

I'm really worried we'll get spanked in the remaining games. Rahane is due a failure, and if Kohli and Pujara don't step up, I can see another Southampton.
