*Official* India in Bangladesh 2015

Any changes for the next ODI?

Umesh was dealt with rather easily. Maybe he should be replaced with Sir Stuart Binny, the Bangladeshi-slayer. Jokes aside, his seamers could probably do the trick here.

And maybe give Axar a go in place of Jadeja.
I'd rather drop Mohit.

I always found the whole preparing "we must prepare for the next WC" thing a bit silly, there's just no way you can completely plan for one tournament 4 years down the line. Right now the only thing the Indian team needs to do is field their best 11 and try to win as many matches as possible.
No you get youngsters into the side and let them gain 3 years worth of international experience to prepare for the biggest tournament. Right time to chuck out a few guys who are going nowhere as ODI cricketers.

And what if those youngsters suddenly get injured/lose form just before the WC? It's obviously important to keep the next WC in the back of your head but ultimately any team's focus should be on the next match, to try and figure out match combinations for a tournament 4 years away is silly. Dhoni for example most probably won't be there for the next WC, at least IMO, but that doesn't mean he should be dropped because "oh whats the use in him playing if he won't be there for the WC". He's still an exceptional limited overs player and should play for as long as his form allows for it.

ODIs except world cups don't hold much value. When you drop the older players who are not in your plans for the next world cup, you can get more from them in other formats. The experience the younger players get in ODIs is invaluable and help advance the cricketers. It's the right thing to do. Sports men on their own accord will hardly ever call it quits and people don't usually have the balls to drop the biggest players. So our players carry on for a long time.

yeah, I agree with Contra there.

Besides there's other benefits of having super players like Dhoni around (for e.g. mentoring the new players etc)

Can happen to anyone really, Kohli and Amla stunk it out in this world cup and nobody would say they were inexperienced youngsters.

I don't think anyone wants India to bin everyone, just tinker a little and see what the next generation can offer especially in the lower order where nearly all Indian fans have admitted they have problems.

You bring in whoever has been the second choice all along. You don't base your whole plan on injuries ffs.
It doesn't matter, theoretically your whole batting order can go for a toss just before the world cup for various reasons, which is why I feel its important to let things take their course and not plan in such an extreme fashion so 4 years prior to one tournament. I would personally just play the best 11 players possible, regardless of whether they will make the 2019 WC or not.

Also in your opinion who are those guys who are going nowhere as ODI crickets exactly?

Kohli tonning up vs. Pakistan automatically means he didn't stink up the World Cup. Doesn't matter if he got a golden duck every other match. That's the rule.

If you were to call up Sehwag right now and tell him he gets the next 2 games I bet you he'd score big-time against B-desh lmao.

Most of the Indian posters seem like a decent lot, so this is not meant as trolling.

But watching England today India could learn something, its proof India need the lower order to really contribute more than what they have been doing.

They need to start bedding some fearless youngsters and get them ready for the next few years.

Imagine Jadeja today if he was Bairstow?

The likes of Hooda, Pandya, Samson, some of these kids deserve a chance.

I don't get why you'd worry about us thinking you're trolling. Indian fans on here don't rate that highly the ODI team. We were as surprised as everyone else when India went undefeated in the WC up til the semi-final.

There's some work to be done in finding the right mix.
